Good morning folks

It was 72 F as I rolled onto the roadway this morning. You can feel the humidity creeping back in. High today will be 88 F.

It was a comfortable ride this morning with something missing: school buses. Yesterday was the kids’ last day of a school.

No modeling last night. We did some clean-up around the house last night. I finally got a few of those things that have been in the attic for too long out for trash.

This weekend is the shopping weekend. We also have an event at my wife’s work on Saturday afternoon. We will spend sometime getting things ready for our vacation next week.

I would like to begin weathering the cars sitting on the workbench. I also have some details to add to the farm scene.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Glad it's Friday,,, what a crap Friday 13th, i almost hit two trucks coming home from work, both pulled out of side roads without looking,,,, my mate next door is a police dog handler, he was chasing some criminals last night and fell breaking his leg very badly, he's laying in hospital waiting for metal pins now,,, the good news is that the dog got one of em,,, and made a meal of him :) , i mean,, how do you stop your faithful dog if your legs broken,,, maybe the criminal will think next time, ha ha ha hope it bit him hard.. And the lad from works still at deaths door after having his throat cut, poor guy.

Off out with the little girl to test drive my new tank,,, well it's got all new low ratio drive and gearboxes, and a PC fan for cooling.

Good Morning Fellas ! Looks like it's gonna be hot and humid here in Western New York , thunderstorms later on . looks like the folks in Iowa are having a bad time with all the floods. Hope that the government come through for them and helps rebuild and not drag it on. Steve your neighbor had one heck of a time. Hope he heals fast. Well gotta get out and do some work before it gets too hot . Hope all have a real good day !!! Carl not much words can say . Just hope you have a good time at the reunion and that the water receeds before yu get back home !Today I get to see my daughter in a play . My oldest one who just loves the Theater . It is at quaint little private school theater . Hope she "breakes a leg "

Mornin' Everyone!

Currently 79°F here in the Finger Lakes with a predicted high of 86° later. Some isolated thunder boomers may on the menu as well. Other wise, it looks like a good day.

My son from Chicago is arriving early this afternoon and I hope he will get here before I have to go to the Play to do sound. It would be nice to spend a few minutes with him while he is in town without having a crowd around.....

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who have been negatively affected by recent events. Cleaning up after a flood or tornado has got to be a terrible task!

Oh well, I can get paid WAY more for being a cop off base, but, as I said it was no longer a goal. I'm looking it it now as a way to stay in the federal system mostly.

Found out yesterday that the pay is slight better, its a GS-7 starting, $45k a year.

Josh, I hope you choose/get the federal job. You can't beat the benefits and retirement anywhere. Where it may be slow going up from GS-7 (which is darn good), you still have auto step increases and across the board pay raises. Wish I had stayed, but I was young and dumb and...oh, well.:)

Afternoon, everyone.

Josh, starting out as a Federal police officer is fine. You'll get the training you need and you can look at other options as you get more experience under your belt. Whatever you do, don't even think of becoming a correctional officer. I had to spend the first six months of my time as a deputy in the Los Angeles County Jail as a CO. It was the worst six months of my life .

Carl, I'm sorry to hear your MIL's house got flooded so badly. At least she's OK, the house can always be replaced. Now it looks like Des Moines is in trouble as well as Cedar Rapids. I just hope the rains stop soon. Enjoy your getaway and do some bike riding. Whatever's going to happen is out of your control anyway. :(

Steve, sounds like you should stay in bed on the 13th. :) Sorry to hear about your neighbor but being a dog handler is a rough part of police work. You've got be almost as fast as your dog and getting injured is almost par for the course. I feel kind of sorry for the bad guy though. If the dog got ahead of the downed officer, he will keep biting the suspect until he's given the right command to stop, usually in German. Well, I don't feel THAT sorry for the bad guy but I'm sure he got bit up pretty good. BTW, those Engrish instructions for your tank were hilarious.

Chris, glad to hear you're recovering from the food poisoning. The only good thing about is that it doesn't last too long. Good you're getting some rain down there too.

Rex, you get any rain up there yesterday? We got .31 inches from one pretty good storm. Looks like a whole bunch of disorganized thunderstorms out there now but we still have a chance for some more rain today and tomorrow. It's only 85 degrees right now and the high has only been 92. Positively balmy compared to the 100 plus temperatures we had all last week. I just hope any rain we do get stops before the Biscuits game tonight. We are playing Mobile, which is dead last in the league, so maybe we have a chance of winning. :)

I smelled it as soon as I opened the door when I arrived home this evening after the Geneva Middle School play. I knew it was going to happen, it just was looking like it would in the next day or so. Anyway it served as a reminder of days gone by and just how fleeting beautiful things tend to be.

Now, many of my family and friends have wondered why I keep the old thing around anyway. After all she is old and probably one of the homeliest things in the house. But I have a lot of memories attached to her and just because something is old, doesn't mean it still can't be beautiful at times. She was given to me years ago as something give my family some wonder and joy. I remember my son's got so excited at times with the old thing. Didn't do much until it was 7 years old BTW. She has been a very special old girl in the family.... Given to us by a fourth grade teacher my first year teaching in 1968 cut off of one she had in her classroom. She told me it would last for a long time and bring us joy once in a great while. It taught me a lot about life and how to find the beauty often hidden within my friends. When I saw it tonight, it reminded me ............

What is it? Just an ugly old plant. Called a Night Blooming Cereus. It's a succulent found in the desserts of the Southwest. Oh! The smell when it blooms will hit you immediately.... a wonderful, sweet, intense oder that almost overwhelms you. The blossoms are open after dark and will be gone by morning. But during that time the ugly old thing is transformed into this:

Flowers are about 5" across.

May all of you find that hidden beauty in life!

Nice one Ray reading that i thought you were going to say the cat had died or something. I had a similar plant to that once, but it flowered during the day only once in it's life,,, you guessed, i was working away all week, i came home to a withered dead flower, not quite the same is it.

Good morning.

It's a pleasant 73 here under a clear sky. Too bad it won't stay that way. We're expecting a high in the low 90's and a better than average chance of thunderstorms later.

Maybe I can get some work done on the layout today. I still have to ballast the two tracks along the back side. Fun, fun.

Morning Folks ! It's rainy and humid here in Buffalo ! We had some storms come through last night and it's just lingering here today ! I would like to take time out to honor a true Buffalonian who past away yesterday . His name was Tim Russert . He was the NBC anchor of the show Meet The Press. but he was more then that to us Buffalo people. Where ever he went to whom ever he met , be it Popes ,Presidents or anyone else he always talked about Buffalo . he was are friend and I just wanted to let everyone know that . May he rest in the arms of the Lord. hope that everyone takes the time to enjoy life - you never know when it will be over !!!!!Ray I'm waiting for my cactus to bloom which will be sometine at the end of June or early July . Hope they are half as nice as yours

Mornin' everyone!

Spent most of the morning getting everything I needed ready for my Granddaughters first birthday party!!! Her birthday is actually tomorrow, but today was better for most of the family since tomorrow is the day for dads.... I wanted to get her the ride around Thomas set, but I didn't have the $300 or so photos of George to trade for it (even with the discount) and besides my son and his wife don't have the space right now, not to mention Olivia isn't quite ready for it yet....;) :D I don't think Mom and Dad would be happy........

Since we have a family party out at the State Park today, it is going to rain all day. High around 77°F with thunderstorms and rain most of the day. Well, it we won't have to sweat a lot I guess.

Steve and Chris as always the blossom has wilted over night. There may be a few more on it this summer. It usually blooms when I am away at camp. These were the first blooms I have been home to see in about 3 years, so I did enjoy them last night.

Steve still waiting for old Sheila's passing. She is getting more and more frail. Still climbs into the bathtub as soon as I finish my shower every morning though (she likes to scavenge for water). The old girl (21 years) is sleeping next to me at the computer right now.

Hope every one of you has a fantastic day! Don't forget to play with some trains today.....

afternoon!

Well I got my customers yards mowed and my own! and Ray's nice pic of the flower got me wanting to plant some thing outside for my wife. I went with 20 nice Pentas in the two front planters. Hopefully in a couple of weeks we should see some pinks, purples, and bright reds poping up! the great thing about pentas is they draw butterflys and hummble bees.........the color should be nice this summer!

The Sea breezes are starting up and the rain should be to if all is the same today as yesterday! It's nice to get what little we are, but I sure hope we're in for a good soaking. the .25" here and there ain't enough.........Is any one else under water restrictions like us? We can only water our lawns one day a week from 6pm-12pm. Sad thing we actually have water police and you get $500 fine for over watering!

Ray we went to the garden centre and they have a cat which looks about 50, they are not sure of her age but at a guess must be over 20.

DCC for tanks This looks fun, you can get some fancy stuff for tanks which use SD cards to store all the info, you just plug them into the PC to reprogram them with any files you want, not bad prices either.
