Good morning.

It's 59 this morning and partly cloudy. Expecting a high in the mid 80's this afternoon and still partly cloudy.

I stepped outside earlier and almost jumped out of my skin. There was a snake coiled up right beside the step! It's a harmless type so I left it alone. The only harm a Coachwhip can do to you is to make you hurt yourself. They generally get up to four to five feet long. The record is eight and a half feet! Their primary diet is rodents and small birds, both of which are greatly abundant here. This type of snake is very, very fast. In the time it took me to get my camera (between six and ten seconds) it was gone.

Afteroon All !! A Rainy day here on the Niagara Frontier . It held out a bit yesterday but today is a wash ! Made brunch for my wife and daughter after sleeping in til 10:30 . Now I have to burn some beef on the grill for the rest of the kids and their others . That about takes up my day. Only deadly things we have up North are some WoodSpiders which are deadly if your bitten. But you have to be in the deep woods to encounter most of them !!!! Hope you all enjoy the rest of the day !!!!!!!!!

Good evening folks. I have been keeping busy with setting up my new store and packing my house. I finally received my first purchase from ebay. It took two weeks so I was starting to get worried. I've also decided to rebuild my old Mantua Pacific. My railroad used a ton of Pacifics and I can't part with this old beast. I either had to park it somewhere on the layout or rebuild and detail it. I chose option number two. I don't know why I'm spending money on it while I have to pay for all new track. I know why, I'm an idiot!

I've come to the conclusion that I need to actually move into the new place before I plan anything. I showed the wife a sketch of the room filling tables. She seemed more receptive to the around the room and over her head than anything else. I guess I was a little surprised. Now I don't know what to do. Like I said earlier, I am waiting to move! It's only two weeks from now anyway.

I hope everyone has a good week. I'll be busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest!

We just spent a good portion of the day in the rain. We went to Dorney Park for Girl Scout Day. We spent over $100.00 for tickets so rain or shine we were going. We got there at 11:30 AM and it started to rain. It rained heavy until 2 PM. First thing we did was grab some food. The event was catered by the park; nothing fancy hot dogs and hamburgers. We then hit a couple of rides that were sheltered. At the last one we decided to go home but then the rain stopped and the sun came out. By 4 PM you would have never known it rained. Those that outlasted the rain got to enjoy the park and the rides since the lines were short since most people left during the storm. We just got home about 9:30 PM. I’ll have more to say tomorrow. Right now my foot is screaming pain and I need a shower before bed.

Good morning folks

It was 50 F chilly, and sunny this morning. Our high today will be 64 F. This has been an unusually cool spring. I think I saw somewhere that we were 7 degrees below average for the spring. I wonder how the rainfall amounts measure up because it seems like it has been raining more than normal.

This is recovery day. This turned out to be a brutal weekend. On Saturday we had a Scout outing at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. We managed to spend about 4 hours in the place. Afterwards we did the grocery shopping.

On Sunday we went to Dorney Park in Allentown, PA for a Girl Scout outing. Problem was the rain. We got there at 11:30 AM just as the rain started. It rained heavy until 2:30 PM. Since we paid over $100.00 and there were no refunds we had to go. Also since food was included first thing we did during the deluge was grab food. After that we did a couple rides that were sheltered. As we were waiting for the second ride and we decided that we were going to head home the rain stopped and the sun came out. We decided to stay for awhile. By 4:30 PM you could not tell it rained. The good thing was that the lines were short since many people left during the storm. My daughter got to ride three roller coasters, Thunder Hawk, Steel Force, and Talon which she rode twice. She dragged her brother, who is not a roller coaster fan, on Thunder Hawk, and Talon. He even volunteered to go with her the second time on Talon. She conned me into going on Steel Force. It was almost 7 PM by the time we left the park. When we got home I was exhausted and my foot was creaming in pain. Today it is a little sore along with the rest of the body.

Guess what, no modeling this weekend.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 62 this morning with an expected high in the low nineties. It's foggy at this time but is expected to be a good clear day.

No snakes this morning. That was a really memorable experience yesterday morning for sure. I'll not be forgetting that anytime soon.

Good morning all.

A great weekend was had here. Beautiful weather on Saturday and Sunday gave me time to get some trees cut down, the lawn mowed, and still get in a 50 mile bike ride. The highlight of the weekend however was my wife taking my parents and me to Boone, IA to see the Railroad museum and have dinner on the train! Whata great time. Good food and a 2 hour train ride. I'll have more on that later with pictures.

Boone is also a major spot for the UP in Iowa with a train going by every 9-15 minutes. Lots of big power down there.

Yesterday while we were heading home from lunch we were stopped for a train and I was pleasently suprised. The lead engine was a Ferromax GE followed by a green BN and two Santa Fe silver/red warbonnets. Definitely NOTthe norm for these parts and a great one to see.

Jeffery...I am such a 'skeerdy' cat when it comes to snakes. Ew. I attend a small country church on the edge of a small country town. It is a great place for a church. We have meadowlarks singing in the morning and coyotes howling at dusk. We decided to adopt the street that runs by the church and we pick up the trash and weeds and just keep it looking nice. A couple of weeks ago as we were policing the country end of the street (away from town) I reached down to snag a piece of trash when a snake slithered right by my hand. I danced in place for about 30 seconds before yelping. The folks who were cleaning the street with me came over to see the snake. It was a black mamba...about 16 feet long and very menacing. At least that is what I saw!! The guy with me saw a 4 foot bullsnake that he said appeared more frightened than I did. Yesterday we were finishing up the street in the town portion and I was with 3 boys from the church. We were cleaning a little gulley and they found a nest of pit vipers. Okay...they were garter snakes but...eeeew! :o They were thrilled (the boys...not the snakes) and proceeded to catch a couple of them. Yuck.

Jim...I hope your son had a great ski day. Spring skiing is the BEST. Nice and warm and sunny. With all the snow we have been getting lately, you do not have to worry about ice or rock skiing.

Today is supposed to be lovely. In the mid 80's and clear. The mountains were beautiful this morning. Have a terrific week!!

Mornin' ....er.... Afternoon everyone!

Been at school for practice and then had to get a bunch of other stuff done. I'm just popin' in here in between everything else that has to get done today.

Sandy LOL. I have never had an aversion to snakes and used to handle the garter snakes that we always seemed to have around on the farm as a kid. My dad taught me how to hold them and not hurt them. When I was Camp Director at Camp Brule BSA, I used to walk around camp when the parents would show up with a small garter snake in my pocket which I would take out and scare the living crap out of some of the mommies. Of course all the snakes we have right around here are harmless constrictors (not like those imported Burmese Pythons down where you are Chris). We do have some Timber Rattlers up in the Bristol Hills and 50 miles South you will find Copperheads and Rattlers, but....

Jeffrey I agree with you completely. Some time ago in National Geographic there was an article on the King Cobra. One of the ones that had been collected by a herptologist had gotten loose and had been hanging around the local fields. At first he was very upset that someone would get bitten and killed by the snake. Instead it was the first year in quite a while that no one in the village had died from rabies carried by rats.

Have a good one!
