TRAINS ARE RUNNING! TRAINS ARE RUNNING!!!!!

Sorry for shouting. I layed quite a bit of track today and hooked up a few wires to see what's what. It's just my old dc pack, but it was nice to see trains run around the layout. By tomorrow I should be able to connect the circle for continuous running. My old layout couldn't even dream of running this smoothly. Granted, this is all new Peco track and turnouts. My last layout had brass sectional track with Atlas snap switches which were hastily layed. I couldn't believe how exciting that was. WOO HOO!

I will not let my nieces and nephews down. There will be trains running by Christmas!

I hope you all have a good night.

Jeffrey, sorry to hear about the car trouble and the glasses. My advice, from long experience doing the same kind of thing, is to carefully search the area where you first turned and the first area you came to a stop. Don't forget to check over the front of the car and behind the grill as the glasses may be hiding somewhere there.

Corey, glad to hear you got some trains running. It's so much more soothing to run trains over good trackwork and just enjoy them instead of wondering when the next car is going to jump the track. Keep laying track at a deliberate pace and make sure it's up to the standards of the rest of the layout. Don't let Santa rush you into a 90% good layout. :)

hell. nothing worse than losing your glasses. I keep mine permanently on my head, both pairs. one on my nose, one pair on my head. sunny days, I have THREE pairs, sunglasses on, reading glasses on my head, distance glasses tucked into the neck of my sweater!

they're too expensive to be losing. hope you find them.

Good morning from Ye Olde London Towne. Its a miserable 3c (38f), cold, damp, and foggy. Blech!! Not much new here. Survived the annual Oxford St, Regent St. shopping scrum. Still its much better than the nightmare of going to the mall (or is that maul!) Modelling is still on hold for various lame reasons.
Hope all is well with y'all. Flo, just hook me up to the espresso machine.

Good morning.

It's 52 and partly cloudy. The high is expected to be in the low 70's and there's a chance of thunderstorms this evening.

Having a bit of a problem focusing on this due to eye strain so I'm having to type it in a little a at time. No luck on finding the glasses yesterday so I'll probably be going to Wal-Mart today to find a cheap pair of reading glasses so that I can at least read the forums a bit better and maybe see to do some detail work. You don't miss something until it's gone. How could I have been so stupid! Oh well, I'll just have to push on.

Good morning folks

It was 26 F as I hit to highway this morning. High will be 48 F. I can say it felt like one of the coldest mornings of the season thus far.

The first round of decorations is almost done. We will be getting ready to bring home the tree this weekend and begin the next round.

My daughter had her flute lesson last night. It was her last lesson before her recital on Sunday.

No trains last night. We watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls on Pay-per-View.

Tonight we have Cub Scout Den Meetings.

I hope everybody has a good day.

HA HA HA,,, lots of snow tonight and it's already frozen solid from the last few days,,, oh what a joy driving to works going to be in't morning. got my spade and wellies ready,,, and to cap that gale forse 9 winds are due at the same time,,,,, 4 hours from now, YeeHaaaw

Andrew and Steve, sounds like the winter is really hitting in the UK. So much for the damp, mild climate I always read about over there. :)

Jeffrey, don't feel too bad, I could buy a new BLI sound equipped E-7 set with the amount of money I've spent replacing just reading glasses I've lost over the years. I'm kind of like LTF now, with glasses stashed all over the place to replace the ones I'll inevitably lose again.

Steve, we'll be in Birmingham watching our Prattville Lions play for the state high school championship and watching the SEC game at the same time on the jumbo-tron. I'm sure it will be very confusing since there will be cheers and boos sometimes unrelated to what happening on the field. It would be awful to to be a player and trying to concentrate on playing while also trying to catch glances of what's going on in the SEC game.

The weather is considerably more mild down her in the Heart of Dixie. It was 32 last night but it has warmed up nicely this afternoon with a temperature of 64. Might get some rain tomorrow but not much, if we do, and it doesn't look another blast of cold air behind the front so maybe it will stay nice through the weekend. Still haven't gotten any Christmas stuff up yet. I don't know, just don't feel in the mood for some reason. :(

Jim That sounds like it could be interesting, and the potential for confusion between cheering and booing, ha ha ha, love to see it.

Helped the wife put up the Christmas tree today. I get to put all the lights on; it takes me about 1 minute. Fast, huh! (We have a tree with the lights all ready on it.:o:D) What is the first thing you have to do when setting up a tree? Yup, find the bad light bulb:( .

Corey: Nice going, we can feel your excitement.

Steve/Andy: Baton the hatches and lash the cargo, you are in for a blow!!
(and don't forget your artic gear:eek:)

Steve: I may watch the game Saturday...well, if someone twists my arm a little.:D

Jim: I got my Glock 15rd mag. Monday. It's a bear to get the 15th cartridge loaded. It is indeed manufactured by Glock. I haven't shot from it yet, but hopefully will get to soon.

I'm hungry! Its time to start gnawing on some GATOR TAILS!
ROLL TIDE!

Rex, you should try to get the last round in my Ruger .22 30 round banana clip. Ouch! Even standard Glock clips are hard to load so that 15 round model must take some real pushing power. I sure am glad we changed the ARG meet to next Saturday now. If I chose trains over the state championship, I'd be living like a monk for the next year.

Steve, I'm assuming that the SEC game will also be shown at Legion Field. It better be since the TV stations here have already gone digital and you can't pick up the signal on a portable TV any longer.

To get to the tail end of a gator, you must first deal with the head and all it's teeth. Or get eaten by the gator and get past out under the tail! It's going to be a fight that game..........neither side is going to give up with out a fight!

I went to Wal-Mart this morning to the grocery shopping for the perishable good. 1 box of chicken, 8 Totino's pizzas, 5 $1 Mexican dinners, 7 of those little $1 Banquet dinners, 2 packs of sliced ham for sandwiches, 1 box of fish sticks, 2 packs of chimichangas, 2 jars of sliced olives (love my sliced olives), 1 loaf of jalapeno and cheese bread and 2 packs of cheese. Picked up a cheap pair of bifocal reading glasses while I was there. The bottom parts for reading and the top parts just regular glass. After I got home my father gave me a check for $74 to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow morning at 9:30 for an eye exam. Surprised me! Usually he's so tight with money he squeaks when he walks. My niece says she know of a place online where I can get my glasses cheap. I just need a current prescription. Worked on the car a bit today. I took the EGR valve off and removed the valves base from the engine. There was a lot of carbon fouling and one of the three holes in the base was completely plugged. I knocked it out and scraped it clean with a screw driver blade then did the same with the mounting port on the engine, being very careful not to scratch it. I reassembled it then spent the next hour inspecting vacuum lines. Not my idea of fun. I found one that had a break in it and taped it up real tight with electrical tape. I thought maybe that was it but it wasn't. It runs somewhat better but is still choppy when I step on it. When I let off it takes off like a bat out of hades. I also took a serious look at the plug wires. Seems like it's been running a bit worse since those new wires were put on a week ago. They're radio-suppression wires. I've never used those type before. On a hunch I took them off and reinstalled the old wires. They're high temp, high performance. Much better! I'm still leaning toward the catalytic converter being part of the problem. I've already drilled one hole the as big a round as my thumb (and I have a BIG thumb) ahead of the converter. Maybe I need to drill another one and see if that improves things any. I may have time for that this weekend.

Hey, I almost forgot.......

I saw something interesting yesterday. At about 5:45pm CSX No. 428 followed by CSX No. 413 came by with a decent sized train. The interesting part was near the end of the train though. About 6 or 8 cars from the end was a wide vision caboose. All the windows were covered over and the whole thing was painted a cream color. Kinda strange to see that I thought.

Chris, it's going to be quite a game, especially if Wilson is having one of his good days at quarterback. The Vegas line is 9 1/2 points in favor of Florida. I'd be willing to bet the under on that. I don't think either team will win by more than a touchdown, maybe even a field goal. It should be the best SEC championship game in a long time.

Jeffrey, you can get glasses cheaper on line. I've used Zenni Optical on-line at http://zennioptical.com/cart/home.php for the girl's glasses and they were about half the cost of Walmart. Like you say, all you need is the optician's prescription. All that car stuff sounds way too complicated for me. The only thing I know is that all our patrol cars had those radio suppresion spark plug wires and ran fine. Without them, the ignition noise was really bad in our mobile radios.

Phillip, I'll bet that caboose was one that was sold by a private dealer to an individual or a business like the railroad caboose motels you see popping up all over. It was probably being delivered to a customer just like another piece of freight. If you google cabooses for sale, you'll find an amazing amount of cabooses for sale, some cheap and in pretty good condition.

There's a nice line of storms stretching from Tennessee to Louisiana that's moving our way. I hope it holds together so can get some more rain. We've got a good southerly flow going with a temparature of 50 right now, about 15 degrees warmer than last night at this time. One can only hope. :)

I'll have the 52" Plasma TV warmed up, The Beer cold, and sanswiches fresh and ready for game time:D

Good morning.

It's 47 and cloudy. High today should be around 50 and it'll be partly cloudy.

We had a long, hard, heavy rain last night with quite a bit of wind. Fortunately there was little damage and no power outages. In just a bit over two hours I'll be going into town to have an eye exam done, the first step to getting my new glasses. I know from past experience that my eyes will be very sensitive for the next few days. Now get this. On the 10th I have to go to Alexandria to get my eyes checked for diabetes damage. That's gonna be another few days spent in darkness. Oh joy! I'm really looking forward to that. NOT!
