CN passenger car

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

For what it's worth, maybe nothing, but here is an old photo of a CB&CNS (for want of a better word) Utility Crew car. The CB&CNS does not carry passengers but used the car for rail gang work (maybe) it's now part of a Railway hotel and restaurant. The car was built in 1928 and was used by CNR.
Anyway here is a link to where it is now http://www.trainstation.ca/
and a picture of it back in the late 80 or early 90's, hope it's some help to you

Cheers
Willis

This link should supply most other info on CN pass. cars
http://cnrphotos.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=16356
And a link to maybe a list accurate CN models http://cnlines.ca/modelling/proto/pass.php then a link to the mfg. of the models, they may be costly $$$ http://www.athabascashops.com/

Wolf, "Tonight i have see some nice car at my local club"...Sounds like he was at the club to me but I could be wrong. Unless someone else has done an identical kitbash to the one in the link, he certainly has never seen a standard Rivarossi car like that. At this point, I'm pretty lost. Hopefully, Willis's links will help him.

Did it look like this?

Hi !

I receive my book today, i don't think that it's the complete car for CN but it have any picture.

At the moment i don't see any rivarossi, accurate for CN but i must look again.

I can always take the rivarossi car and ad the side of Athabasca, it's more cheapest that buy complete kit.

Thanks !

Looks great, cc. Give us the details on where you got the car, who made it, and anything you added to it.

Hi !

I buy them at Hobby jonction at Dorval ( Montreal) it's a 8-1-2 Pullman Sleeper # 5023 "morning Glory" made by Branchline.

I have buy a another model on ebay but i don't receive them at the moment.

THanks !

Hi !

For my second project i have a another branchline pullman of CN. It's a 80' paired window coach # 5032.

Does this car had a air-conditionned ?

Does it have a "vent" over the lavatory ?

It's a option that it's not write if CN had or not in the instruction.

I appreciate if someone can help me with this last detail.

Thanks !

1. That would depend on the time period you are modeling. Based on the time period I think you are modeling, early 1900s, no. But if you're modeling past roughly 1950, it should have AC.

Is it actually the #5022? I don't see a #5032 on the Branchline site. If it's the 5022, it's not a Pullman but a coach owned by the CN. It was used for second class passengers and did not have air conditioning, just clerestory vents. It would have the exhaust pipes over the lavatories.

Hi !

It's 5032 the number of the car...

I don't see this kind of car on the web site, maybe it's old stock ?

It is the same series that 5022 ?

Thanks !

Probably older stock since Branchline tends to only make several hundred of any car number. It is exactly the same class of coach as the #5032 so the details should be the same. All of these coaches eventually had air conditioning added but many of them didn't get air conditioning until just before WWII.

Hi !

Thanks for your help again

In the non-A/C in the instruction it's write that it can have different air duck.

I know that it was more easy if i had a picture but don't find anything :(

Do you know more about this ?

Thanks !

The picture shown on the Brachline site is exactly right for that class of coach without air conditioning. The square boxes along the clerestory roof were fan driven ventilators. You shouldn't need to add any extra ducting to the roof unless you want to model a later version that had air conditioning added.
