The LionChief Universal Remote is more like a TV remote than it is DCC. As it communicates directly with each Locomotive through a radio signal. As opposed to DCC which sends a signal through the track.

The recent chill in the air has reminded me the Holidays will be here soon!. It also reminded me to check the weather before going to bed with the windows open!
Little by little I hope to have a train, or two up and running under the Christmas Tree in the family room by Thanksgiving. If all goes well, I will have everything ready by Advent Sunday (first Sunday of Advent) December 1st.
I hadn't thought of that... What do you think?
I'm torn. I hate opening new threads for the sake of opening new threads. I mean, for example, we have the "RPO" and the "What are you ordering this month" threads that are essentially the same thing. I keep hoping one will take off an the other before gotten but I've wished that for over 18 months.
I'm leaning towards a new thread. I like the title "Christmas Trees, Trains, and More 2024".
I like the Iron Horsemen's idea, a new thread it will be. Once I get something, anything complete I will start the new thread with a photo.

Well in America this commercialization of everything right down to holidays really takes away from them even feeling special. Growing up in the old country there was no such thing. Everyone was bussy preparing, but it was done on subtle level right down to the last few days before Christmas. And the quiet anticipation was exactly what made it special. In Hungary, the Christmas tree is traditionally decorated on Christmas Eve once the children have gone to bed. At least that is how it was for my Hungarian wife. America's influence has likely changed that for many. Even my wife's parents would put up the Christmas tree on Advent Sunday after the kids had grown.

Christmas holds a special place in my heart, signifying the birth of Jesus. For others, it may revolve around Santa Claus. Christmas carries different meanings for different people. How or why, we celebrate Christmas is not what matters.
Thanksgiving is not a good gauge for Christmas, as Thanksgiving varies each year. The calendar situation this year Thanksgiving is on the 28th which less than one month before Christmas. This is the shortest time in the 28 year cycle that can occur between the two holidays. Last year thanksgiving would be today (23rd). This is as opposed to 2018 where Thanksgiving occurred on Nov 22. giving the longest possible time (five weekends) between the two.
This is only true if one insists Christmas season must have the same number of days each year. As you pointed out Thanksgiving is not on the same date each year therefore the larger "Holiday Season" doesn't have the same number of days each year. Thanksgiving is a significant day (in that I get a paid day off if nothing else
) and I use it to mark the beginning of my own personal Christmas season.
