The Fox Valley Railroad
I'm rather unconventional in adapting things to the Fox River Valley RR. I have found that both ornaments and Christmas village items are a good source.
Hallmark Keepsake ornaments are especially nice. Trick is to find ones that scale close and get them cheap. Anyone else using holiday items on their layouts?
Here's one of my favorites, a Gee Bee racing plane. I tell people the Rocketeer had to make an emergency landing along the tracks.

I used the branches from a retired Christmas tree to make HO evergreen trees of assorted sizes and types.

The light in the CM's office building is from a Department 56 building that broke a long time ago. I put an LED bulb in it so it would be cool and safe.

The work/security lights in and on the roundhouse are tiny LED Christmas lights.

These photos, taken around Christmas on my old layout, show wreathes I got from some battery operated streetlights for a Christmas display on the smokebox doors of a few of my engines.

Actually, most of my trees are Christmas village trees sprayed and flocked with ground foam then a spray of clear topped with static grass and a little Woodland Scenics yellow, red or orange flowers to add additional color.

Gary I am enjoying this thread, thank you!
I knew you would Louis. Did you notice Mighty Joe Young climbing up the antenna? Well I guess this will be the last addition I make to this thread. A Hallmark Ercoupe flying high over the town of Summit.

Of course all of my unconventional uses aren't only Christmas related. But for showing off these, I'll start new thread.
