Howdy Folks. My name is Carsten and living in North Germany.I model the Chessie System,L&N,Family Lines and Seaboard System in Ho during the 80´s till late 90´s.At home i haven´t got a layout but are a member of Fremo (US FREEMO)and building module layouts.
Welcome. I guess you might like this then huh.....
Hey Carsten!
From one Chessie fan to another, glad to hear from you!
My grandfather's family is from Lower Saxony and he worked as a brakemen, fireman and engineer for the PRR. One of my first jobs was as a coal sampler with Chessie.
What kind of trains do you run? Post some pictures when you have time.
Thanks for posting the great picture Motley!
Thanks, that´s the ultimate steamer.Very nice layout, like the bridge

Awesome,it´s the ultimate steamer
I´m also from Lower Saxony, funny.I focus on steel coil trains at Bethlehem Steel and covered 3 bay hoppers.Got very lucky and found a few of the Bruce Friedmann IMR Pullman Hoppers. Will post pics later.
Welcome, AP. I had to have one of The Beasts on my layout as well. Why? 'Cuz.....ya gotta!!
Welcome to the forum, Carsten!
Hey Again Carsten
Do you model any of the Bethlehem Steel plants? I live a few miles from the now closed Sparrows Point plant. I had the opportunity to go in there many times when I was selling tires for Firestone, a fascinating place!

I´m busy with a rolling mill from that area but still not satisfied with the trackage. It has to fit on modules (2-3)and want of course the most switching fun.Not always an easy task. Not to forget i have to involve Chessie in the hole action.Got the BLI PBNE NW2 Bethlehem switcher ,awesome piece. Please understand it´s so difficult to get the stuff here and import every piece on my own from the US.
Have you tried MB Klein?
http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/ being a Baltimore dealer they carry quite a bit of Chessie and Bethlehem steel things. Their prices are good as well and their shipping rates are reasonable, but I don't know how reasonable they are for international orders. I do know they ship many international orders.
Hi Louis
M B Klein is my first choice for many years now and yes it is a very good company.Ebay has also a few good sellers.Bye the way, is there anyway a track plan, how the track ran at the Bethlehem steel works? Can´t find anything on the internet.
CA
Hey CA,
That I a very good question and I wish I had the answer. I would suggest you start a new thread with that question.
In the mean time maybe one of those programs like Bing maps (birds eye view) you can still see the tracks. I have not been there in many years so I don't know how much if any of the tracks remain. I looked on Bing and it seems to my bad eyes that there are still many tracks remaining and the road bed is visible for some others that look to be gone.
Also you could look for the Patapsco and Back Rivers Railroad PBR they operated in Sparrows point almost exclusively.
Gray's yard was the switching yard for sparrows point and that is still in service, but barley used. I believe its owned by CSX but Norfolk Southern has track rights and I see their rolling stock more then anything when I take my grandsons to see the few trains. To find it search for the sparrows point country club. Gray's yard is on the southern end of the country club the area is Edgmere Maryland.
