Did Chessie locos have blue trucks and blue fuel tanks or black trucks and black tanks?
This is for a project loco, I want to know if I can use a Chessie shell because it’s equipped with black under the sill and I don’t feel like changing them out with blue ones. If they had blue I will just use the regular B&O scheme because it had black under the sill. I’ll try to send pictures when it’s done

Both actually. Depends on the unit and history. I do believe blue was C&O legacy and black was B&O legacy units. not sure research is needed. on the particular road number. rrarchives.net is a loco photo archive. you can search by road name, type, and number. amount other factors.

So that means that B&O units had the black under the sill

Generally units like the SD50 had blue and neither road owned those. Research would be needed. don't forget road grime could easily make the dark blue look black too.
