When i first got into DCC i used a verity of decoders, usually finding the good deal. I to learned real quick while its all the "same" each manufacturer is very different. What helped me understand DCC is I found a brand of DCC I liked and stuck with it, and have not had any issues since choosing. I have stuck with NCE for control and decoders, and Soundtraxx for sound.

Well, probably not at Radio Shack today. :) They do have a nice digital multimeter for about $30. Don't cheap out and get the kind with a needle. The digital one is much easier to use and more accurate. You can't really be a serious model railroader without a multimeter - you'll find pleny of uses for it.

That's not necessary with the Zephyr. To MU two locomotives back to back, all you do is push "loco", enter the number of the engine you want to lead, push "loco" again. Turn the direction control to "reverse", then push "mu". Enter the engine number of the trailing unit, then push "c+". If you succeeded, the readout will return to the lead unit number. Run the engines a few inches to make sure they go in the same direction, couple to your train, and head out.

Is it possible on the dt402 ?

Yes.

Select your lead locomotive on your right throttle, select the trailer in the left throttle.

Make sure the loco on the left throttle is going in the direction you want, do the same with the right one. Then, hook them up together, make sure your throttle is plugged in if on wireless mode, and then hit MU, hit +, then the engine in the left throttle will show that it has switched directions (it is only the display, the engine will still go in the direction you specified before you MUed it. When you break the consist, it will flip back the display)

Then, run your MUed engines around with the right throttle, or select more engines on the left throttle to add more engines into the consist.

Oh, also.... BE SURE TO DECONSIST ALL OF YOUR LOCOS BEFORE YOU SHUT DOWN! Engines may not work properly afterwards if the command station still thinks it's consisted!
