Canadian National Flatcar: circa 1942

I'm a military miniature modeller and I'd like to scratch build this Canadian National flatcar in 1/35 scale. Not being a railway modeller, I know nothing about rolling stock whatsoever. If it's possible, I would like to source a set of plans for this flatcar. Any information regarding the flatcar would be most welcome too. Thanks in advance for any assistance you might be able to provide.

If you look at the right side, you can see that it is 36ft6in long, and was built in 813, so August of 1913. So it’s a 36 foot flat from 1913.

Has. 28251, which was built in 1909, looks quite similar.

Your best source is the CNHistorical society, and I believe Stanford Swain did an article on CN prewar flat cars, in the CNLines historical magazine, but not sure where you’d find one or if it has drawings or data.

Maybe this will help lead you in the right direction. Depending on how accurate you want, you may be able to find drawings of a 36 foot flat car from that era that would be a good stand in. Finding a model in that scale is highly unlikely, 1/48 (O scale) is slightly more likely, but if you can find a 3d model, printing it to your own scale is possible.

Look at 1/32 scale railroad models for parts or a whole car that is very close.. Here's just one:

There is about 1/3 inch difference in width, comparing 10ft wide flatcars in 1/35 and 1/32.

I have the entire collection of CN Lines, as well as the index. I will check through it tonight and see if I can find a relevant piece.

I believe it is a class A2 car … these are the class listings, with build dates, etc.
