Building the Pinnacle Creek Mining & Timber Co. RR

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

There are about three important things about model railroad scenery. First is shown in the picture below. You must cover the white completely. Again, completely. I prefer WS earth undercoat. When you put on your scenery layers some ground will probably show. You want this undercoat. I do NOT recommend brown or any other color of latex paint. It subdues the overall effect of your layout and leaves it a bit lifeless and dull. Second and Third later.

A closer up. Simple acrylic paint, blue, green, and gray. You don't need to be an artist to do this. Those dollar twenty-five brushes from the big box stores are perfect. Brand of paint should be the cheapest there is. Leave the brush wet and dip in the next color, no blending issues that way. If you think you messed up let it dry and try again. Blue means deep, green medium depth, and grey near the shore. It

comes out light blue.
