I don't know about Mike, but while I'm not expert I have fly fished exclusively for over 60 years. Maybe the three of us should go to Southern Colorado and do it? Jim
Jim, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Colorado. This has been on my bucket list for many years. Just now to the point that it just might happen. My question is, how did you adjust to the altitude changes? Apparently it ranges from 2000 to 9000 ft above sea level. My wife is concerned because of her high blood pressure. Thanks, Bill
Bill, I'm no doctor, I just play one on the internet, so I think I can help here. Durango is around 7500 feet. Silverton around 9200 feet. The real issue is how you got to Durango in the first place. If you drove, say from 1000 feet you are well acclimatized by the time you get there. If you fly you are in a plane pressurized to 8000 feet. I have high blood pressure and had no ill effects in any of these examples. If your wife can fly she'll do fine. If you drive there she'll do fine. No half marathons for her though! Jim
Thanks Bill, Here's some more. I'm gluing the deck down on the chassis. I'm using Woodland Scenics Foam Tack Glue. I will probably have to wait 24 hours for a full cure. Problem here is the deck had a slight bow to it and so I decided not you use CA glue. I will wait to see if this works. The manufacturer says the deck is supposed to just sit on the chassis and he made no provision to secure it. Me, of course, will find a way if there is one. I don't fancy picking up this loco in two parts if I can help it.
Notice also that the trucks are well under the frame and should present no problems in photography. I will still weather the trucks and I will also add some foot stirrups to the frame and that will further cover them. Jim
Louis, Sort of an experiment going on here. I use WS Foam Tack Glue for just about everything. I thought I would try a couple of drops to see if it would work. Paint bonding to white metal basically. I don't know about silicon adhesive. There really is no other room for more than Foam Tack Glue and CA in my modeling. I try to stay within my basic philosophy, as mentioned many times here: Use only easy to procure products, keep an eye on the wallet, and recycle what I can. I'm sure there is a glue for every occasion, but I'm on Social Security and such luxuries are beyond me. I think one of the reasons so many of you have sought out this thread is that my basic philosophy is attainable by all who visit here. You will never hear me say a brass loco is better than a Bmann loco. It may cost three/four times as much, but better? Thanks for the comment though. Keep them coming. Jim
