Steve, Welcome. You can try. If you need any questions answered just ask.

T.C., Thanks. While I've been informed that my photos are on computer backgrounds around the world, I don't have a problem with all you guys posting yours! My photos are simply a guide to my modeling style and hopefully are used as inspiration towards better modeling.

A note about the Contest. Trees are the prize. I have two rather large batches. One batch is N scale. Maybe 90 or so trees. I haven't counted them in years. The other are my HO trees you have seen in my photos. Don't know how many, but there are a good number. There will not be 2 winners, only 1 winner. The winner chooses their scale. Down the road, if I'm still alive at 500,000 there will be one set of trees and the HO 2-8-0 you've probably forgot about and other goodies. Thanks again to you all. Jim:)

Here is a photo of the N scale trees. Notice the trunks.

I'm having too much fun just looking at the pictures and trying to soak in the techniques. I've got one scene on my layout that I'm not terrible ashamed of, but most of it needs a lot of work on the scenery end. I used to do a lot of set design work for plays. I'm good at building the structures, but my finishers always saved my butt with the dressing and fine details on the sets. Not much has changed, but I'm working on it. ;)

KB02, Never get too disheartened I always say. Study my pics and read the techniques around them and then practice on a small area to become comfortable. Don't worry, your work will not be a copy of mine, even if you want it to be. For some reason another modeler's work just comes out different. Jim :)

Walt, this problem must be in your computer. I'm no computer geek, but I've been on NSO for many years and have never had an issue. I can access the site via FFox or IE. I would certainly give it a try in FF and IE again. It's a good site with good people on board. Jim :)

I use google chrome and no issues. Your settings might be to high with the anti virus but i never had any issues over the last 5-6 years. I opened a thread here on this site for the layout in N scale. Look for OleSmokey and/or The greenbrier logging and lumber co. rr. I don't have a lot of pictures but you can see the plan and some of the shots. Dan

When the upper part you see is finished all the way round the room, about 26 feet, I will start on the left again and do the middle section. This includes track. So I can't run trains all over the layout before scenery as I build a bit different from the norm. Jim
I love it Jim. By the way, you are in really good company. The famous John Allen also did scenery before laying track. There is some goodness to it.
I realize this is an old post, but I just now found it.
Regards, Vic B.

Welcome Vic and thanks for actually reading something in the thread! It is not truly scenery then track, but in the begging stages getting to the corners is happens. Jim:o

Just some updates. As many of you know I've not been feeling well for quite awhile. The next step is removing my gal bladder next Tuesday. If you don't hear from me on Thursday you can assume I'm either dead or otherwise indisposed! Also, hopefully we won't hit 400000 views while I'm gone.

Here is a photo of the train room. All painted and the rug halfway cleaned. Jim
