Building the Pinnacle Creek Mining & Timber Co. RR

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

One last though on the idea ... you could make riddles out of the objects. Clue: I am both a noun and a verb. You'll find me in something that has a mouth yet cannot speak. Answer: Fish in the river in pic 2.

Or something along those lines...

Ian, Good thoughts. Not sure I could come up with 'riddles' at this stage of MY game.

As for this contest it will be different. Many of you have asked for movies so you'd all better get your game on! Jim:)

CONTEST, CONTEST.

Contest will begin after I upload videos to Photobucket.

This time around something special. You will have to compare two videos to find FOUR (4) differences. Three will probably be enough.

VIDEO QUALITY, MOTION OF CAMERA, ZOOMING, AND OTHER PHOTOGRAPHY ISSUES ARE NOT PART OF THE CONTEST. THE VIDEOS ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME AND SHOW THE FOUR DIFFERENCES QUIT CLEARLY.

I will be back later today or tomorrow with a photo of the prize. This slight delay will give everyone a time to get ready around the world. Actually, let's start the CONTEST tomorrow, Monday, March 25, at 1400 US PDT. Jim

WV, Welcome to the PCM&T thread. Did you read all 113 plus pages? Just curious on how much time it takes.

As far as a great start I'm not so sure. The layout is essentially finished so "off to a great start" may not be applicable right now. In fact I'm tossing and turning about another 'last' layout to begin in September. Not sure yet.

If you are here just for the Contest that's okay too. The regulars may take offense, but I don't mind. Tell your friends. The more the merrier. Jim:D

Jim: Have not seen all 113 pages; what I saw was just benchwork. I will check out the rest of the article. I just joined the forum today because I'm a modeler also. Not a great one so I'm hoping to get information and answers to questions on specific area of model railroading that I need help on. I liked what I saw of your benchwork and backdrop. Jeff

wv, Fair enough. We all have to start somewhere! Regardless of whether you're building a module, layout, or diorama, there are many things to learn here. Enjoy. Jim:)

Hi Kenny, How you doing? Get in the contest if you have a mind to. Also, there is a lot of good stuff to be found in this thread. And, the price is right. Jim:D

Prizes for today's Contest

You will have a choice between two different prizes.

This is one choice. It is a photo of the layout. It is mounted and ready for hanging. The other choice is some turnouts Atlas Custom #4's. There are five of them.

You get to choose either prize if you're the winner. Good luck, see you today at 1400 US PDT. Jim :)

Contest Photos. These two photos may have to be on two separate posts. I'll see if they both show up. IF NOT the part two of the contest photos will be in the next post. Like always examine #1 video and then #2 video. Find the FOUR differences in #2.

I found that if you don't post an answer unless you are absolutely sure you are better off than just guessing. You help others by your incorrect choices. However, FIRST correct answer win.

Four things

1. ladder next to building in front.
2. added a log to the pile at the end by bridge.
3. covered up the center rails in the bridge.
4. black tank is turned side ways.

Kenny, Hello. This thread has hit 100,000 views. Do some math and you should figure out it is very popular for something only 15 months old.

We have had a couple of contests to celebrate 'view' milestones. This time around we have another for 100,000. Go to Page 113 and read the rules for this one.

As for the price. In this thread is information good for all scales and modeler abilities. You can see my, and other folk's, views on many 'how to' subjects ranging from rocks to photography and it is FREE. You can get some of this info by buying some book or something, but all one needs is here and it is FREE. Take the time and you can probably learn something.

No one is required to participate in contests they are just my way of saying thanks to the viewers whether they need a contest or not. Jim:)

1. ladder added to building in front.
2. added a log on top of pile at the end by the last bridge.
3. Black tank is facing a different direction.
4. The tree just to the left of the first right-hand curve is in a different spot. Just to the left of the building.

WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!

Congratulations to clayguthrie for his four correct choices.

Please send me your prize choice, either the turnouts or the photo, via PM with your mailing address.

Jim:)

If your interested Clay took the turnouts. In the mail this week.

Other business: I'm still deciding on whether to do another layout. If I do it will be in this thread. I have an open house with this layout in August. I really don't want to wait that long but it is probably best. We'll see.
Jim :)
