I forgot to mention the contest will end at 1500 PST, US West Coast, on Tuesday, Jan 15. If we don't have a winner prizes will carry over to the 100,000 view contest.
If we don't have a winner you will all be quite upset that you've overlooked the obvious answer. Jim
Well Jim, I'm going to give it one more go. I'm thinking maybe the caboose is pointing the opposite way in the second photo. I figure, that window went somewhere, so you probably turned the caboose around.
It appears that the “3” are:
1 – going from 2 cars to 1 car on the tipple.
2 – caboose is different – window / no window.
3 – going from no car in engine house to car in engine house.
Now I have listed several examples from “photos in the threads” of changes that are in past posts, that are different from the contest photos. As in post #134
1 - No small building to the right of the engine house.
2 - The man in the boat is different, not standing on the bow of the boat.
3 - The derrick host (crane) is in the same place, but in a different position.
4 – And in another post the engine house wall was damaged and leaning.
So I am a little confused when you say “photos in the threads”. - Chris
How about the tipple legs are crooked ?
They look bent ? (out of plumb, off to right at the top)
In the first pic's of the structure they were straight.

Could it be that I can "see" more of the right side of the picture? I can "see" past the stump at the center of the right edge. The left edge is the same but the bottom picture is wider on the right. Just guessing here......
1 – going from 2 cars on the tipple in pic 1 to 1 car on the tipple in pic 2.
2 – caboose is different – window in pic 1 / no window in pic 2.
3 – going from no car in engine house in pic 1 to car in engine house in pic 2.
4 - going from no object in front of the hopper on the tipple when two hoppers are on the tipple in pic 1, to an object (bucket or barrel) when there is only one hopper on the tipple in pic 2. I cannot tell exactly what the object in pic 2 is.
I will ask the question again since I received no response from my thread post #910. Would you explain in a little more clarity what you mean when you say, “photos in the threads”? Do you mean previous photos of the dock scene? The dock scene before or after your addition to the layout? Or some other photos?
Silverton, Sorry about 910. So here is a HINT that I was going to give today anyway. See if this helps.
I don't mean photos of the dock scene per se. That would rule out the now crooked tipple for example. There are TWO items in this photo that have been presented as main subjects in other photos previously. You guys only need to find one of the two left to win. I don't mean the bunch of barrels on the dock which move from time to time because they are not glued down or damage to the engine house.
Alright, the big three are:
1 – going from 2 cars to 1 car on the tipple.
2 – caboose is different – window / no window.
3 – going from no car in engine house to car in engine house.
Now the allusive number 4, maybe the hopper car that was on the tipple is now (according to thread post #691 and #695) above the climax as it comes out of the tunnel. Or both hopper cars (in post 702) as they set between the trees. (In post 719) in the camp scene. (In post 748) coming around the bend. Also post #770.
1 – going from 2 cars to 1 car on the tipple.
2 – caboose is different – window / no window.
3 – going from no car in engine house to car in engine house.
4 - the tressle going to the tipple has moved to the right and is not seen in the newer pictures

The question to be answered is maybe better stated this way. "What two objects prominently on display in the photo are different, dramatically, in the way they appear in these two photos?" Jim
Here's another shot in the dark..................
The boards holding the paper onto the roof of the engine house were added well after the building was built ?
1 – going from 2 cars to 1 car on the tipple.
2 – caboose is different – window / no window.
3 – going from no car in engine house to car in engine house.
4- boards added to roof of engine house
T.C.
Let's say that the engine house and to a lesser extent the tipple and crane are the missing stars of the elusive forth answer. In several photos the engine house is missing its roof, and the crane is on its side, and even one where a container of glue is on top of the tipple. Maybe?????
Is the forth part of the answer: The hopper car in front of the engine house has had the inside holding capacity changed by building a storage section on the end of the car, by moving the end wall in further into the car.
I tried to figure out how to ask for more details about the car, but if I addressed it anyone could have figured the car was one of the correct answers.
The coal car on the dock has been shortened.
The other missing link is the Heisler in the background used to be a three-truck and is now a two-truck!
Both choices have been photographed many times. Especially the Heisler. Hidden in plain sight.
Hope you all enjoyed the contest. Next is at 100,000 views.
Silverton, please Private Message me your name, address, and whether you want one or both prizes. Thanks, Jim
