On the left is an old, but operable, switcher from AHM. I use this DC loco as a test loco to run around the track and see if all is correct. Caveat: This loco runs on Code 100 track. It hits the spikes on my Code 83. If you have Code 100 and win, good for you. Otherwise you will have to file away the flanges somewhat for Code 83. Also the couplers are not knuckle couplers.
On the right is one of my favorite cars. It pretty much speaks for its MOW self. It is undecorated so you can do that if you wish. This car is a beauty.
The winner may take both the prizes or leave one behind for the 100,000 view contest. Up to you. Good luck. Jim
I mentioned harder this time, but not impossible. If you can get the photo on your wallpaper or desk top that may give you all the help you need for one item. The other two items that are the same in both photos, but changed in appearance since the beginning of the threat are in plain site, sort of. Jim
Okay here goes: as of post #134 entitled “finished dock and ore tipple scene”, and compared to the contest photos;
No small building to the right of the larger building.
The man in the boat is different, not standing on the bow (front end) of the boat.
The derrick host (crane) is in the same place, but is swung in a different position.
No hopper or gondola car on the dock with a load.
Engine is pulled up on the dock at the entrance to the building.
Not positive, but the man on the tipple looks different, in contest photos it appears his leg is lifted.
From contest: photo one has two hopper cars on the tipple and photo two only has one hopper car. - Chris
How about
1-the drums on the dock are empty in the picture titled "pier", in the contest pictures they have cans in them
2- neither of the windows in the large building have curtains in the "pier" picture, in both the contest photos they have different variations of curtains
3- in the contest picture #1 both windows have curtains
4-in contest picture #2 only one window has a curtain
5-the man on the tipple appears to be waving for the camera in the contest photos, he looks to be fishing in the "pier" photo
T.C.
T.C. Sorry no cigar. As a general comment I would say that everyone seems to be looking too closely. I would not change window curtains and have you try to figure out by going back through the thread on photos that have so much in them. The two answers that may need some digging are quite obvious. In fact one is very obvious. Nothing like a small curtain or the man on the ore tipple. Jim
How about - in post #606 you made a point of the engine house wall was leaning. In the contest photos, it looks pretty straight to me. Goodnight - Chris
I enjoyed looking back through all of the pictures for the countless time. Anyway here's my take.
Car tipple - Pic 1 has 2 cars, Pic 2 has 1 car
Caboose - Pic 1 there is a window on the body, Pic 2 no window
Boat - Oars disappeared from page 11, Now no oars
Boat - Man had one foot on land, one on boat, Now he has both feet on boat
clfwst, Has three out of the four! Actually, I have found a fifth 'difference!' You guys only need four so this contest may be over soon. With what amounts to one or two choices left. Numbering on the loco is the same in each photo. Good luck. Jim
My guess is in no.1 -2 cars on tipple
window in caboose
no car in engine shed
photo taken wide angle and close to layout-background is clear-good depth of field.
Pic 2 - 1 car on tipple
no window in caboose
car now in engine shed
photo taken with zoom-background is out of focus in second picture giving different depth of field to second pic.
rlundy, Nope. Remember I've stated that 'how photos were taken' was not part of this contest. Lighting, cropping, focusing, etc. are not issues. Jim CM&T
rlundy, Good eyes. Remember I have a skylight in the ceiling and it was a partly cloudy day. Another reason why photos, even though they were only taken a few minutes apart, may be different and not part of the contest. Jim
Well, I'm going to give it one more try. Assuming that the first 3 answers are correct, in the first picture on the small structure, just to the left of the door is a square white object with what appears to be a white frame around it. Possibly the bck of a chair. Just to the left of that on the small square of grass, concrete, or stone is a black rectangular frame. Looks like a boot scraper to me. In the second photo both are missing.
rlundy, Don't give up you are "seeing" too much. The 1 of 2 remaining possiblities are very obvious and all will be disappointed that they were not "seen" and in plain sight. Jim
