I have been unable to find anything labelled bnsf orange, what would be close match, prefer water based acrylic but frankly anything at this point?

Ditto to the above Kastrassner. Keep in mind though, Tru Color is not an acrylic paint BUT is railroad specific.

You can buy it from modelflexpaint.com, but you should buy at least 6 bottles of paint (assorted colors) if you want make the shipping ($13.00) worthwhile.
