Hey guys , I am in need of some feedback here . Since I am not very familiar at all with operations I want to make sure this makes sense before making it permanent ( as permanent as layouts may be ) All the buildings are just sitting there and the track is spiked just enough to hold positions . Does this arrangement seem like it would work in the real world? I did not imagine it taking up as much real estate as it has , I mean it was just some coal , sand , and diesel . You can see the one stub running into the corner . I put it there to service a couple of industries ( to be named later ) and purposely made the tail just long enough to hold a small switcher and 1 forty foot car . My thinking is this will add some extra moves to spot/haul cars away and make operations a bit more interesting . If my thinking here is flawed I would greatly appreciate some redirection.

JIM .. looks very nice to me. I like your thinking on the stub track.
I am missing seeing a water tower .. is there one planned near the coaling tower?
The tracks for the servicing look real good!

Sherrel , yes there is a water tower , I don't have it yet but it is supposed to set in that wide spot between the coal and sand track.

Thanks guys , I am just not sure if it is too busy with all the track . I think the buildings might be a bit close together also ?

Jim it looks good to me as well (very nice scene in the making). You could consider (based on the 2nd picture you posted) moving the sand-bin and the diesel tank to the left of the fueling pad instead of the right in order to put some distance between the structures if you think they are too close together. Personally i think it looks great as is.

Jim,

You have made a lot of progress mate, a lot and it all looks great to me as well. The buildings might look close, at the moment, but once you get the scenery in and trains in place I think it will look as it should, busy but not "cramped".

Thanks Tony , unfortunately since that last post was made I have not had much time to work on the layout . I still have another couple months of busy schedules before I start working again but I am counting the days.
