Can anyone tell me how to change the accessory address on a decoder equipped Bachmann EZ track turnout? The instructions that came with it said you had to push a button between the ties 4 times, then press some other buttons on the Bachmann control unit.
The problem is (and this is what I get for hanging out at my LHS) my dealer, the eventual customer, and me are all NCE guys , and Bachmann doesn't even tell you what CV is the address CV, or if there is a special procedure (probably is seeing that button between the ties) for initiating the CV change?
Is this some big hairy secret that only Bachmann afficianados can understand?:confused::confused:

This has come up a number of times. It's easy to change the address using the E-Z Command or Dynamis controller but you aren't changing CV's directly, you are doing a series of button presses, as you say. I'm assuming your really are changing some CV when you do this but Bachmann doesn't document this since I think they assume (or want you to be) using a Bachmann control station. I would e-mail their support department and ask them about the CV information. In addition to the overall poor quality of the Bachmann switches, this is another reason I wouldn't purchase the DCC version. Bachmann is very poor about documenting about how to change things with anything other than the controllers they make.

Programming a stationary decoder generally is NOT the same as programming a mobile decoder. Many if not most stationary decoders require you to push a button, install a jumper, or connect a wire and then send a switch command from the command station to change the decoder address.

I haven't actually used any of the Bachmann EZ-Command turnouts, but from what I have read on other forums there are two ways to program them(and they are supposed to have both sets of instructions with them). One method is for the EZ-Command controller, and actually sets up the turnout to operate off of a mobile decoder address, because the EZ-Command controller will not send commands to stationary decoder addresses. The other method is for systems that can send commands to stationary addresses.

Somebody has posted instructions for setting the address on an MRC system on the Trains.com forum:EZ track dcc turnout & MRC prodigy advance
Here they are paraphrased to work with any system that sends switch commands:

On the turnout you want to program press the program button and hold for 2 seconds. The turnout will toggle four times.

Send a switch command to the address you wish to assign to the turnout. The turnout will toggle twice to indicate it has accepted the new address.

Bingo ! Thats exactly how it works! I just knew somebody knew the answer here! Why Bachmann doesn't include the alternate instructions or have them listed on its web page is beyond me! (Other than the obvious, they KNOW everyone else has a more advanced system!)
Thanks !
