I would like to try my hand at adding custom details. Can you still get detail parts for these old Athearn Bluebox locos?
A quick search did not reveal much.

If it's an undecorated unit, you can shave off the molded on rungs and add appropriate grab irons, ladders etc. Also, depending on what RR you are modeling, snow plows are common. You can find bass wire grab irons and brass and 3d printed snow plows. These are pretty easy and a good way to start.
