I used an Alidade for geologic surveying (we called it field mapping). But to your point I believe I've seen a set of HO scale Surveyors. Can't remember if it is Peiser or Woodland Scenics or maybe Musket Minatures.Having spent a few years as a land surveyor in the field, I'm wondering if any of you feature such individuals.
I would love to have an instrument man (like I was) pointing towards the rod-man.
I'm in HO these days if anyone has something like that.

I've had to survey the situation a time or two but that's all. After I had read this thread and went back to Active Topics, the pop up ad was for land surveyors! I'm beginning to get a bit paranoid!
That would have been 1979. We were supposed to be proficient with both the instrument and the rod. Seems like on the rod I would always forget some detail that would cause us to not be able to recreate exactly why I chose that point to plot. Not long after that it all went to lasers and the fun was all gone anyway.Oh, cool. How long ago was that. Today we call that topographical (or topo) work.I used an Alidade for geologic surveying (we called it field mapping).
