Took a small trip to Altamont Illinois, a former Missouri Pacific Line now used by Union Pacific. Caught some interesting things.

These signals that I believe are MP, true colorlights (Correct me if Im wrong) guard this blind corner, as up they way a few miles, heading north, there is a siding, and also a mile south is the CSX former CR line (back to that in a second)

(Any Idea what this is I believe it was for telegraph but Im uncertain.)
At the start of the siding I noticed that a train was parked in it.

A little movement showed it was actually a deadline of boxcars.

Moving towards the end of the siding the rest of the Boxcars sit and an unusual piece of equipment, I believe to be a former SW series locomotive.

Some sort of rock loader but I don't really know much.
Back in Altamont along the CSX line lots of Heritage equipment here, Relay Boxes, Telegraph poles out of service, and former Conrail Electric boxes with nameplates still on them, what a piece of history this town is.

If your in the area make sure to hit up this spot its high train traffic, considering I saw three trains in less than 2 hours, and high in history.

Did a little digging and found photos from a book, Rails Around Southern Illinois, by Michael C Kelly, and if you look very closely at the recent pictures you can see a faint sign on the left side.

It's actually the same graffiti from all those years ago.
I also learned the line used to be former CE&I trackage.
