Perfect!

I love the GE Analog multimeter, sweet! How long have you had that?
I think I bought it in 2014. I have the original package, which I use for storage.

I managed to wire half of my track over the long weekend, amounted to connecting 12 sets of jumpers to the power bus, seven of them have one leg switched, with the switches installed on the fascia.

A couple more weeks and I should be running trains. I am checking each section as I go, so far no snafus!

Getting ready to run trains! Final step is completing the installation of the bridges.

I am putting in the "base" ballast (will be covered with a final fine ballast) and painting the track.

My first tries with painting track using a rattle can, automotive primer, and finger nail polish with masking tape, worked great--

On the switches I did use masking tape to keep it out of the moving pieces, otherwise wiped off the top of the rails with finger nail polish remover and cotton q tips.

These areas will also receive a final coat of fine light gray ballast (at some point in time, not sure of the sequence)

I only spent a couple hours doing 15' of track, I am really happy with the way it is working

On this final bridge, I have the largest gaps to fill, I only painted the bridge section so far. Will be doing all the track leading up

This is my first try using this method for track painting. It requires the most planning since you cannot really have any scenery done when applying. However, it is by far the quickest method and I think it looks better than the track pens method.

Thanks for looking!!! Dave LASM

Looks great!

You'll find it's a little easier to paint the track before laying it. You can always touch it up afterwards if needed. I just spray some paint into a foil cup and touchup where needed.

All the rails have been painted and I had time to do a little scenery work around the Kettle River Bridge:

Even though this backdrop is temporary, I touched it up a little.

(Below)
Here, I poured slabs for a couple of my buildings (with hydrocal):

I will go around the layout with a cloth then putting on the 0-6-0 for a first run. I will be gradually ballasting and putting down scenery..

For me, this is the fun part!

Cool! You've made a lot of progress. I've been enjoying watching this thread.

Thanks to all who are enjoying the progress, and commentaries...I ran the mainline with the Rivarosi 0-6-0 yesterday...

That little fella looks tiny on this layout. I might have to get a decapod, Northern Pacific had two of them.

I will be doing scenery and ballast work until Kingdom Come due to 288 square feet of ground to cover.

I plan on doing a little at a time with building construction and running trains also going on.

That was the idea!

First complete scene from the new layout:

If you look close, you can see the 0-6-0 tank loco between the trees, the mainline runs behind the scene just in front of the backdrop.

The track work has been completed, (has all been painted and ballast work is underway) and trains are running!

More scenes to come...

Fantastic scene!

You have done so much in such a short period of time!

Thanks again for sharing the journey with us.
