Here’s today’s offering. I repowered this old Athearn Blue box with a Bachmann Spectrum chassis and motor added some hand rails and painted the trucks

Here's scene I've thought would look neat in miniature for a long time. In the first half of the 1990s, BN got about 5000 Trinity 4750 cuft covered hoppers. This is what I remember grain trains looking like when I got my first car and could go out on my own to see mainline trains. This is an empty returning east for another load, it only has 3 engines. Loads would have 5 six axle locos. Anyway, up front are Walthers new Trinity 4750s behind a Scale Trains SD40-2, a B30-7A (RailPower shell on Athearn drive) and a Blue Box SD40-2 that is probably about 20 years old.

Western Wednesday, the 90s called:

I don't think I've shared this one before....
I don’t think you have but glad you did very nice pic. I always hated pulling those 53’ Domestic container it was hard to find a good one first off to take to the customer and they were awkward to pull around a big city like St. Louis and when we had to return it back to the rail the tandems had to be slid all the way back so the Packer could pick them up also they had to be slid all the back at the customer so there fork lift would not nose dive off the dock plate I sure don’t miss them.

That plow is cool looking. Is this actually representing real piece? If so, was the real one build out of one of the streamlined cupola GN cabooses?

That plow, BN 972540, is a real snowplow. It started out with the Great Northern, where it was numbered X-7300. Here is a picture of it from GN days at rrpicturearchives, on the left. I don't know offhand what exact cars these were built from, but I believe many snowplows were built by railroad shop crews using various available and recycled cars and parts. This picture sure suggests some caboose parts, both steel and wooden, were used at GN:

Thanks. I just recently found out about these super streamlined cupolas on few GN cabooses. This snow plow sure reminded me of that.

I don't know a lot about the snow dozers but I know a guy and happened to see him today. He says the original wood sided ones were built either from 40' boxcars or maybe a caboose. Later ones, including the "streamlined" ones, were purpose built.

Here’s today’s Western Wednesday off the O scale layout

Any Milwaukee Road fans out there? This headlight looks familiar- i could swear EF1 and later wersions of those boxcab electrics had headlights like that.
