How wide should my benchwork be for a 30" degree radius helix? Just in the planning stages, Thanks........

The two are not necessarily related. You could have your helix as a wart off one corner of a narrow bench half the width of the diameter of your helix. If you wish to situate your helix symmetrically astride the width of your bench, then make the bench 30" across and mount your supports for the helix inside the coiled roadbed.

if your wondering about a curve that will have a 30 degree radius, then you would need 60" for a 30 degree radius track to make a complete circle for a helix....

basically, you just double what your radius is, therefor, if you have a 24" radius curve, you would need 48" to make a complete circle or turn-around, 34" radius curve would require 68" of space to make a complete circle.....

its best to have at least an inch on either side of the track from the benchworks edge as well, so for a 24" radius, it would be best to have at least 50" of benchwork... Although on a helix, you shouldnt have to worry about that as the track will be rising.
