Epilogue
I entered several of these items into the Chishohm Trail Division NMRA "Wichita Train Show and Swap Meet" in February. Judging here is totally different than at the Boulder club. Here the general public votes, and I saw many folks letting their children be the judges!
Five of them won another ribbon.
The !ah Chihuahua! got third in freight car category. Lost to a flat car with a model airplane on it, and 85' piggy back.
The little 120 ton crane took first in maintenance of way.
The Santa Fe Cabbage took first in passenger cars.
The Sierra baggage car took third in passenger cars.
And the tinplate caboose took another third.
I was really surprised that the picture of the UP 844 on the State Fair Special did not win anything. Lost to a picture of the Big Boy steaming through the cold of its first eastern run, a pretty good picture of abandon track passing into an autumn scene, and 3rd place was another, in my opinion not too good, picture of the Big Boy sitting at exhibition somewhere.
I brought home three additional ribbons for other things that were not entered at the Boulder club. The second place for "My Favorite Train", lost to an O-scale train of military armor (tanks), on flat cars. That ended up also winning over all best of show, so I don't feel too bad about it.
Final side note. The "picture of model railroad" that I got second with, lost to an train on a bridge modified by AI to be in a snow storm. It was a very nice work of art but I am proposing for next year that AIs have their own category. A photo is one click of the shutter.
So @Bruette there is the whole story.
