1/87th Vehicles

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Well my local Wally World finally got more of the 1/87 stuff in. After all this time the got some Reel Rides in, but it's been very hard to get any of their models. The first time I saw the shelf tag in front of a empty spot, the next week I got a GTO, but that was all that was left. Then this last week I got three Trans Ams and a GTX. Of the Trans Ams, one will be left in the firebird scheme, another repainted yellow, and another repainted red.
The store also got in more of the Norscot Minis. More of the Malibu Semi Trucks in new body styles and paint, and more Fresh Cherries including new models. Pretty much all of the 1/87 stuff has been selling well at my local store.

I was at my local Wallyworld yesterday and scored big time. They had all their black and red box Malibu/Reel Rides vehicles on sale for...50 cents each! There were a total of 34 available. Guess how many are left today? :) It was a good selection too, even a few pickups. I don't know if they were just clearing them out of my store, if there's a new series coming out, or what, but, at 50 cents, I'll take all I can get. Might be worth a ride over today to see if your Wallyworld is doig the same thing. Just don't expect to find any in Prattville, Alabama.

Yesterday morning, when I attempted to go to work... I noticed about 3 dozen boxes in the cars isle, not one of them opened. Looks as if our overnight guys put them there to be stocked and no one ever touched them. Kind of explains why I'm always 3 months behind on getting the new cars!

Lol, nothing yet, I keep scouring the stores. HOPEFULLY one of my 10 or so local stores will stock something soon.

After reading the first 10 pages of posts I figured the next 50 or so would be the same, Going to Wally's World tomorrow.

;) I think U will find a lot of pictures of diff. vehicles all thru the whole topic & a lot of vehicle links. I know there's at least 69 pages on this subject & 30,000 views. It's a subject that we all share in H.O., because for years we couldn't get anything for our (cheap) price range.:D

I was in 3 different Dollar Tree's today & they had the new 1/87th tractor trailers. Some of the tractors are the short nose & they are a little small for HO but would do as a background vehicle. The others have the cabover Mercedes tractor & most are black. I didn't buy any because I have plenty from the years before. There's about 6 diff. trailers.

Mingo, you can occasionally find some good deals on e-bay for cast metal backhoes. I've bought several pieces of construction equipment from a seller called narrow152 and they always seem to go for reasonable prices. I got a Case backhoe for $14 including shipping. Don't know what your idea of cheap is but that was a pretty good price in my book.

Busch Lighted Pickup

I posted about this in the Coffee Shop. Just installed two of them today and they look great. They are at Walthers (http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/189-5643) and go on sale about once a quarter for $16.98. The vehicle itself looks good and the lights are really bright. NO LED's, just mico-incandescents so they are easy to wire up. Just thought I'd mention it in case someone is looking for lighted vehicles. Unfortunately, their emergency vehicles are awful with grossly oversized lightbars.

I've been on a GHQ binge recently. Their backhoe is awesome, if you're looking for an older body style, see if you can find theirs. From normal hobby retailers it'll cost $15 or so, but if you're lucky like me, I got mine on eBay for about $3.

No new vehicles at Wal*mart yet, kind of lucky though, the fires got within 2 blocks of the store.
