1/87th Vehicles

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. pa3de8,

In my experience, it would be best to check this thread often. The REEL RIDES have been out for a couple of weeks now, and all the good cars are probably gone. It is best if you go out looking as soon as someone on here posts about new releases. These H.O. cars seem to go fast. I am a member at REEL RIDES site, so I will give a heads up on this thread when REEL RIDES informes me of new products. BUT, keep looking on here, you'll know when we know!!! Good luck with finding the first reel rides set!!!

Unfortunately, as of late I haven't had time to check in on this thread or any other with my busy hectic schedule. So maybe I missed out the boat on the first set.

Maybe Truckstop Models will eventually carry the Reel Rides line, though for right now, Wal-Mart seems to have sole distributorship. You can get the Fresh Cherries line from their website, among hundreds (thousands?) of other HO scale models. Check them out: http://www.truckstopmodels.com/

I saw the movie "Phantasm 2" last night. and in the movie, is a 1970 or 71 Charger, that is the NICEST Charger I've seen on film. It is red, has a snorkel scoop on the hood, and has Craigar "SS" mags!!! NICE!!! Gonna request that one on REEL RIDES!!!

Just got back from my LHS. My purchase?? A Boley "NEW YORK" style pumper. It isn't decorated for FDNY, it is all red with a white stripe. Just another pumper for my H.O. fire dept.!!!!!

Was at Wal-Mart yesterday, nothing new!!!

I just returned from my local Wally World and didn't find anything in the way of Reel Rods but did manage to get a couple more Fresh Cherries:

The numbers are all of the winners in the races this & last year. Someone needs to make a speedway on their layout. I would, but don't have the room.
I've been wanting to do a lake out of the cardboard baloons that I saw in MRR last month, but don't have the room for that either. I'm going to have to stop building structures one day & concentrate on the layout.(TRAINS);)

The only thing I don't like about the NASCAR cars is one, I wasn't planning on doing a layout that up to date and two, Jr's car has the crappy Dale Earnhardt Jr's signature as the sponser instead of the Budweiser sponser which ins't allowed to be sold in the children's section!!!

Just wondering, are any of these fresh cherries and monsters marked as 1/87 th.
There were some cherries at our WM, they looked kind of large to me, but I thought well it's been awhile since I looked at any of my HO cars so I'll take a chance on the ford pinto. Yep first impression was right, it's monster size when compared to a HO 49 merc. Ah! well I'll keep looking. Maybe if you fellows would stop cornering the market we'd get a few up here :D

Willis, the larger scale cars are in blister packs, like you'd find an Athearn dump truck packaged, but the Fresh Cherries HO cars, as well as the Malibu (including the Reel Rides brand) collection, are packaged in their own little plastic display case/box with a black plastic base.

Ah! So, thanks Ryan that's what I've been watching for, the smaller display pk's, but the smallest I seem to find are 1/64th I forget the name on the pkg's maybe some day when they get tired of looking at those models that don't sell they'll get something else.

Willis,

I have seen two different sizes of the Fresh Cherries at Wally World. You can clearly tell the difference between the 1/64th scale and 1/87th scale. The 1/87th scale tells you what kind of vehicle it is on the black base. The 1/64th scale vehicle tells you what kind of car it is on the outside of the box.

Just got back from my local Wal-Mart today. Just found a couple of NEW vehicles from Malibu International. Out of the five I saw, I bought two. 3 of the new models are sports cars from Porsche and Jaguar. the two I bought are:

1. A Land Rover Rangr Rover Sport.
2. A Land Rover Discovery 3.

The Range Rover is a brownish color, and the Discovery 3 is red.

Other than those, nothing else new!!!

I just recieved a newsletter from Reel Rides today.

They said that they still can't reveal what the next set of cars will be, but did say that they should be released mid-summer. They said that they'll send out a notice to their members around June.

So guys, a couple more months, and more REEL RIDES!!!! Can't wait to see what they put out!!!

BTW, In the e-mail, they mentioned that the cars will be at SELECT Wal-Mart stores. Apparently, not ALL Wal-Marts get these, just select locations!!!!

That explains why some of you couldn't find them.

My WM isn't handling any. So, when I go on vacation next month I will have to stop at every WM between here & St.Augustine. Will probably take a day just for that.
