    Saving Decals while repainting old freight car

    I have been refurbishing some ancient but still salvagable freight cars. Several have great, unique decals. However I need to airbrush paint the cars. How can I preserve the old decal signage. If I mask it, it will look as if the signs have different paint behind them.:confused:

    I felt my heavy handed weathering attempt was too much so I used Artists oderless Thinner to dilute the dark Grey weathering which was absorbed by the paper towel I was using. I used coffee string sticks to cut the planks from too so they have many uses on our layouts and make great lumber...

    These two old time tanks cars show the extent of my weathering which is sorely lacking in my estimation. Also I noticed from taking the picture that the Zeroline car isn't even finished being assembled as it missing laders and a break wheel & chain and the trucks aren't even rusted...

    Progress on my Railbox

    This is the latest progress on my Athearn RTR PS 5277 Railbox. This car now sports a golden-brown color common on many Railboxes.
