I have about one hour of break in. How long should I try that? Noise is still annoying above 70 on transformer.

I just received a new Kato HO Metra from Train World. It runs fine but after three quarter speed it is much louder than my older Kato engines.
Any thoughts. Hate to return it if its normal. Sure looks good.

DC only and UP paint. It appears to be a later version and I think it has a can motor. Comes with newer couplers. I am amazed at how much smoother it is compared to my old Bachman Mikado that died.
Thank you so much for the information, Ed

Thank you for the help. I would not have guessed about removing springs. Also I am amazed what a little oil did to performance. No problems with 3 passenger cars and is smooth and quiet and faster than expected. Also runs very slow when I want. I am now thrilled with the "Grey Goose."

I bought a nos Mantua steam engine yesterday at a train show. It ran great on the test track. At home it spins its wheels with 3 cars and is worse on the 22 inch Kato corners. I have seen videos of this engine pulling several cars with no problems. I would appreciate any help.

Can I order a HO steam locomotive from Japan and use in America. The engine is for 100 volts not 110. Anyone doing this? Thanks.
