Downtown buildings and industry area. I'm calling this layout "tourist trap" as its inspired by Ft Bragg, Arcata, and other coastal towns that attract tourism to the coastal towns that used to be industrial waypoints

Not a lot to update just been running trains. Will have building photos later.

Alright, some scene divider bushes in. They are probably bigger than they should be but I wanted a nice green to break up the rather boring grey and grey and grey gravel and ballast. The prototype I based these on had planted some bushes as a break between lots and obviously stopped taking care...

Power update, replacement cheapo power supply works but the track makes a noticeable hum. The not so cheapo power supply will be here Monday. Trains run on the cheapo one but i don't think it's exactly right but we shall see.

I do have carpet and the plug i was using for the vacuum definitely is questionable ground. The previous owner thought he was quite handy...he was not...and I haven't replaced everything he did yet. I tested the board it seems ok but the power supply does not. Thank you for the reminder to use...

Well I did say technology is not my friend...
While I was vacuuming up the stray material from the gravel lot project I felt a couple static shocks. A while later, I plugged in the cab controller, and...nothing. I suspect I fried either the power supply or the power board (replacements on the...

Second take at the gravel lot, the first was a disaster.

A few dark green clusters and smallified the bush by the tracks. Foundation for the sawmill down. I'll need to make a grade crossing so vehicles can access the Lumber yard. I'm thinking basswood strips dyed dark and stained between the tracks and some sheet balsa to make the outside ramp parts...

That's my favorite bush! Haha jk yeah I might see about filling in a little more. I need to get all the foundations down for the buildings so I can do the street then I'll have the "boundaries" for the nature parts. I'm less worried about the ground near the industries, just dirt/gravel and that...

Tried some clump bushes...I don't know. Obviously wait until this afternoon when everything is dry. I kind of feel like scraping it all off and trying again.

After getting the static applicator to function...and some layers later we have our grassy area.

Are the instructions as spotty as the glacier gravel ones?

RE: Orange groves,
Weirdly, looking for pictures of Disney Land under construction or especially the Disneyland Hotel in the early days, you can see all the huge groves around there from all the many arial shots. Good idea at least on tree spacing, farm equipment, storage, etc in general...

Nice! Super compact but still has a lot of use potential.

Tried out an XL systems sound decoder in one of my C420s. Works good. Definitely an affordable sound option. Not as nice as esu, not as expensive.
