Last weekend was a down time due to sickness. Next weekend heading to Steamtown for the Railfest. Week days, deal with kids while my wife works.

Learned the hard way when I let one zoom down and bust a brand new MTL coupler. I can get 2 n scale 2 bay covered hoppers on mine. 6 axle diesels always overhang the top when the first truck gets railed.

Thinking Tony needs to get caught up on the “honey do” list that Mrs Wombat has given him 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Bachmann ramp does seem to be a little steeper than the Kato. I don’t let gravity do all the work. No matter which ramp it is, I always use my hand to guide anything down it.

I have the Bachmann version also. It’s actually something they made right. 😗😗😗

Industrial switching. My apologies for not being clearer. Trying to plot out my space on paper. DC for now. Solo operation. Running 4 axle diesels and rolling stock under 60 feet when possible. Originally planned 2 engines per trip…but may have to run one depending on what I can come up with.

I have thought about a coffee table layout. But my interest lies in switching and a point to point layout right now. When I can get more space, I’m planning on doing a larger point to point but with the option for continuous running. Starting small.

I’m laying claim to a corner of my living room. Roughly 33” deep by 7’ long. Not the space I wanted but it’s a start. Back to the drawing board for me.

That’s why my model railroading items are under lock and key. This way the wife or 3 children can’t mess with it. They’ve got the rest of the apartment to put their stuff…which I’m going to be going through…one way or another!!!

T
That’s definitely gonna happen tonight!!! No outbuilding for me but I’m claiming some space for myself!!!

I’m married to a pack rat. Trying to get her to sort out things isn’t going well. I’ve been a bad boy and made things disappear to the dumpster…👹👹 Hasn’t said anything yet…😗😗

@wombat457, your forgetting one thing…patience. Good things come to those that wait. I’m planning on getting more material pre staged in my storage unit so I’ll have it ready to go.

The chocolates might work, flowers would be roses. Have to work on plan b just to be safe…🤔🤔

Wish I could…to give her a vacation would require 3 weeks of no kids or me at home and the same for her job. Gonna be a tough one…😩😩😩

That’s primarily why I chose N scale. All the options in limited space. Now that all the “extra” people that were residing in my apartment are gone…getting She Who Must Be Obeyed to grant her blessing to build us the only hurdle I have left.😒😒

I did manage to get a 2’x4’ piece of plywood…once I break it down from being a pallet. Came under a brand new battery tester and charger. The only beat up part is the bottom cleats from the pallet jack.

@wombat457 you are correct! 😁 As this will be my first build in a long time, I’m keeping it simple. Once I hone some skills and learn new ones, the next build will be better.

Some good ideas…let me run them through my head tonight. Tomorrow I can let you know if I can get the other plywood.

Hopefully I can grab some more pieces of plywood. I have access to one more but it’s 2’x2’…if someone hasn’t grabbed it already.
