Hey all, long time no see!
I am currently looking at getting rid of some of my rolling stock/locos that I tend to not use that much. I am looking to upgrade my collection in quality rather than the quantity method that I have been going for for the last while. I just wanted to gauge the forum...
I initially didn't want to mention the set in fear of it getting swept up by someone on the forum, however I was browsing Facebook marketplace and I stumbled upon another one of the set for sale. I messaged the seller and I am going to pick it up tomorrow! Hopefully I don't get douped. I'll post...
I recently was browsing eBay and found my Holy Grail engine. I have been waiting for this engine to pop up ever since I got back into the hobby. I had this set as a kid and I really want to have it now as a hobbyist. From my research, the type of train does not go on sale often, if ever. Records...
For inquiring minds, here is the update.
I ended up ripping up this one section of track. I noticed the trains were always stalling at this joiner so I ripped it up. In the process I ripped up the plastic Atlas ties that the rails were holding onto(Uh oh). So I went and made my own ties with...
Track is all cleaned up and I have heavily serviced all of my locomotives to get them running like new, thus all of their wheels have been cleaned. I am almost positive it is an electrical issue with the rail jointers. I am having trouble figuring out how to fix that issue.
For now it is. it might expand a little bit depending on if I want to do something with it or not but hopefully once I get done with grad school and move I want to start from scratch and get a good sized layout going.
I have been having some of these issues before the whole move so it really isn't anything new. It really comes down to the same few spots on the layout. I have now cleaned all of the track with Isopropyl Alcohol and some spots are running better but others became worst. weird
After a long while I am resurrecting the layout thread. I am finally getting back and starting up the layout. I have moved the layout across state lines since I have graduated from my undergrad program and now am waiting to start my graduate school program. I have been running trains a bit but...
I am just looking for a quick loco identification for my classification purposes. I have a good idea of what they are but I wanted to confirm with the "experts" in the field. The first pic is all Athearn and the second is a crappy Bachmann. I don't need help identifying the caboose😂 I just...
Update:
The layout is in a very done state at the moment. I finally put the layout on a table and a lot of the details are finished up. I have some things to do still but I think being 95% can be considered pretty done. Here I show off the park scene and the log yard scene. Not much to...
Neat stuff. I once saw a guy who hung his layout with pullies from the ceiling. This is another great way of doing this! It makes me wonder if one could make a layout that flips like one of those reversible pool tables like this. Something to think about with the similar size of your layouts...
