Here is a video regarding the PA
I meant to post this a while ago. I have noticed that some of my track work is not perfect but other locos seem to run alright on it.
-
I ended up taking everything apart, cleaning and sanding everything down so it is in pristine condition. I put everything back together and it seemed to run alright for a bit. It took a lot of power to get it to run at a regular speed. After a little bit, it went right back to stuttering a bit...

Update:
Here is the current state of the mountain. As you can see I did my best on shaving it down and I think this is the final layer of spackle that I am going to do. I have to wait for it to dry and then I will do the final round of sanding. After that, I will once again go over it with a...

I am new to all of this electronic work/wiring so what exactly is the contact strip and what wires should I need to make that happen? And what and where is everybody talking about lol
-
I mentioned a while ago in the "What are you buying this month" thread that I purchased a set of daylight cars with an Athearn Alco PA unit with it. The engine has been giving me some trouble. It seems to stutter quite a bit. I have run other locos on my layout and they seem to run fine but this...

Update:
Here is another slow progress update. At the moment I am testing out some color glue that I got at the Dollar Tree. It is blue so I thought it could make a good water color. So far I haven't made much progress with it but I will update you when I have made some more to say about it...

Update:
Been a minute huh? I have been lacking on the updates since I have been working on other things and other projects. First up to talk about is I have started expansion on the mountain. I have added another layer of foam dice and a layer of pink stuff under it. I am planning on shaving it...

Thanks for the help! I am definitely going to pick one up!

Howdy Coffee Shop! I have a quick question for the group regarding some parts. I just wanted to see if anyone knew where I could grab a few parts for a Life Like loco that I recently acquired and am trying to get fixed up. I haven't been able to find any parts diagram online and I don't even...
-
Yeah quite fun! it is a fun challenge to get these locos working. Most of them just need a good cleaning and they work like new.
-
Adding the SP PA I have a total of 5 on my workbench so far. Happy to report that only 1 of them ran out of the box and that was the Southern switcher. The couplers on that loco are a bit low however so I will need to tweak that at some point. The past few days I have been working on them and so...
-
There were so many project locos that were in the bins. I can't imagine how many there were before I got there. I only picked up the ones I liked. I am sad I missed out on a B&O PA-1 AB set. A guy took it right when I decided to go back for it
-
So far only the Southern switcher worked as it was. I need to go in and do some investigating on what is the deal with the others. I also bought an SP ALCO PA with 5 Daylight cars on eBay so my "workbench"(theoretical workbench), is pretty full. That along with KD swapping the couplers and...

Much appreciated! That is a big help.

Went to a club that was hosting a swap meet. Went a bit later in the duration of the event and I guess I was collecting the remainders in my bag. Pickins were probably slim for the average model railroader but, for a guy like me who is just starting out, it was nice to get to build a little empire
-
I'm going crazy because I went to a swap meet today. They let you fill a brown paper bag for $9. $9!!!! I picked up all of this in my bag. 50 total peices. Crazy deal for a guy who is just amassing his collection. Time to put Kadees on everything😅

This is another good look at the section of track. I think I have a relative idea about how to make this possible but if I mess it up, it's going to be a pain in the long run.
-
Here are a few images from above. The first one is the Google Earth image of the section of track mentioned above. The other image is the Openrailway Map. I like using Openrailways to just see defunct lines and different areas random tracks go. Anyway, you can see the location a bit better.
-
Exactly that. I just need a bit of inspiration or a little push in the right direction so to the forum I come to ask for help lol. Someone on here has to have some good ideas, right?

Update:
Just a bit of a ramble today. No real work has gone into the construction of the layout. I have hit a bit of a dead spot with my work and I can't seem to get past it. The "Brillo Branchline" portion of the project has been scrapped and now I just want to build a nice layout. The reason...
