    Best way to turn single track bridge to double track?

    The problem with gantlet track is that it is the same operationally as a short section of single track, but without the switches. One train has to wait for another to clear. If you are not a tracklayer, put a switch at each end of the bridge for the same operation. Bruce

    Bridge your gap with plywood, etc. and lay your two tracks on it. Cut the sides off the Atlas bridge and fasten them to the side of the plywood. Glue some structural plastic shapes across the top of the bridge sides in an IXIXI pattern. Run trains. Bruce

    Canadian National Flatcar: circa 1942

    Look at 1/32 scale railroad models for parts or a whole car that is very close.. Here's just one: https://www.livesteamstation.com/1-32 There is about 1/3 inch difference in width, comparing 10ft wide flatcars in 1/35 and 1/32. Bruce

    Which Station would you choose

    Use the Campbell kit, modified for something in the background, not for a station. Maybe two houses. Then build the Dolores station, but change it so it is not such a recognizable RGS-style station. See Dolores and Rico station models. Bruce

    Standard gauge passenger cars are almost all around 10 feet (120 inches) wide, but different lengths. Measure the width if you aren't sure of the scale. O scale = 2 1/2 inches wide S scale = 1 7/8 inches wide HO scale = 1 3/8 inches wide Bruce

    Power Goes Out :( Why Not Use A Battery?

    Sounds safe. I remember long ago reading about scary incidents running trains directly off a car battery, and thought that might be happening here. Even scarier, one early (1930's?) layout used a DIY locomotive powered by a food mixer motor with 110v in the rails. Bruce

    A short, when using a typical automotive-type battery, can weld parts together, melt them, or turn them red hot, with its huge amperage compared to normal train power. At least use a low capacity fuse, circuit breaker, or fusible link when using a large battery. Bruce
