What tubular track turnouts/switches can accommodate Marx locomotives with fat wheels?

What I did was throw up an elevated loop. Run anything up there unimpeded. If you visit Myflyertrains.net check out page 35 of the 1938 catalog. It states O gage and has dimensions. Ebay has some inexpensive manual switches. Hope this helps.

What tubular track turnouts/switches can accommodate Marx locomotives with fat wheels?

Prewar AF switches are easy to find. Just look for any three rail AF switches. 027 is a Lionel thing and not made by AF. The switches look like Marx. Made in 1938. You can fit in a 027 Marx switch. Add curves to make a 90 degree section and cut straight track to fit. Same for the 031 side. Fat...

What tubular track turnouts/switches can accommodate Marx locomotives with fat wheels?

I am not that familiar with the problem. Marx switches will work and if you are not happy with any postwar switches, how about looking at prewar switches? I have one or two I can test out with the fat driver.

Can you convert Kusan 2-rail O gauge models to 3-rail operation?

Another idea is to use a Lionel alco motor and frame. If it fits? Then just add Lionel trucks to the other cars. Doing it this way you still have the original trucks and motor. Work wise it would be easier to convert the three rail track and just insulate the one outside rail. I do not know if...

    Marx steam locomotive questions

Do the best you can. Take your time removing the rods. If it works your done. If not look for another wheel. It should work if the pin stays intact and swage the rod on. After examining it, there should be no problem. It is a pin. You will need a round nail set punch. I wonder if it is a...

    Marx steam locomotive questions

I just keep them on. Taking them off may become a permanent situation. Unless you get into a tap or rivet. For me anyways, removing the wheel is easier.

    Pre-Wired 3mm LEDs

Thank you for the correction, I would hate to confuse anybody. If I do an Ohm's Law calculation I use .02A, the max value. What do you use for that number?

    Pre-Wired 3mm LEDs

Look at voltage amperage and resistance. If the resistance is the same for both voltages the amperage will be lower at higher voltages. You know it works at both voltages with 1000 ohms. Heck it will work with 1500 ohms!. So just add one more 560 ohm resistor and you should be good to go...

    23-year-old enthusiast of old-school 3-rail O gauge models

If you try again, the manual will reference the 2333 ( pg 173) not the 2343. The only difference that I know of is the 2343 has a newer brushplate. Years ago I bought used 2333 SF in rough condition. I operate it with only one motor now. The two motors were way off and did not work well...

Welcome to the Forum! Servicing your engines is a good place to start. Your grandfather obviously took care of those trains. They look to be in great condition. Did he leave you with any manuals or printed information?

Sawdust? What can I use for HO sawdust?

A belt sander with a collection bag will work.

Lionel 224 steam engine, questions on motor and tender

I often work the old fingers into position for reuse. They get replaced if the ends are worn out or really twisted. Old ones are much heavier built. Whatever tool you do get, just pop it open and try not to bend the side plates.

Lionel 224 steam engine, questions on motor and tender

https://trainrepairparts.com/shop/product/3549/e-unit-spreader-tool The spreader tool is st 303. There is another tool that holds the e unit and comes with a spreader. That cost is the price of two e units. These parts are listed at the Train Tender. You can search online for other part...

Lionel 224 steam engine, questions on motor and tender

"Not running Well", What does that mean? To me if it runs, it works. It is an 80 year old engine and will not run like a top after being in storage. It is an electric toy, the track has to be clean and I hope the transformer is large enough to supply the power you need. If it runs DO exactly...

Lionel 224 steam engine, questions on motor and tender

I think the wheels are better off if left alone. Replace your brushes and springs. They are totally worn. You can work your armature in place with 320 grit paper. Take the same number of strokes on each plate ( center ) and also across the joining edges. Six places will get you around the...
