hey

Not too sure if this is all Life-Like P2K locos, but I have a Chessie SD9 that I run on my layout and although it looks fantastic, it dosen't run very well. it accelerates smooth, but it takes me turning up the throttle almost half way before it even begins to move! Is this a problem with all P2K engines or just mine? I bought it off of ebay and it is in fact brand new. Any insight would be helpful! Thanks!

are you going to add DCC?
If so that would resolve that problem because you can adjust the speed there by applying the voltage/amps etc there....
I wouldnt say it is typical but I have 3 SD9 Protos and 6 SD7 and they all run solid with DCC. Major pullers they are!

Proto locos require a lot of power to get them moving..You see the light board causes the power draw not the motor.A lot of DC operators have removed the light board and hard wired the drive for better operation.
Proto locos suffer from several problems including Life Like's gear ratio of the month.
