In looking through this thread, the second photo of "Missing Link" has disappeared, here is a better one with me "working" on it.

Earlier, Breakheart Pass was mentioned. It was filmed on the Camas Prairie railroad in north central Idaho. Our neighbor across the street, when I was little, was one of the engineers and is quoted in Hal Riegger's book when he mentioned filming the movie.

Here's a long forgotten TV show from 1972, "Banacek", starring George Peppard. Season 1 Episode 2 "Project Phoenix". George Peppard plays the part of an insurance investigator. The plot of this episode, which can be found on Amazon Prime, revolves around the theft of an experimental automobile called the Phoenix. The part of the Phoenix is played by the AMX 400, a customized 1969 AMX designed by customizer George Barris, but made to look less interesting for the TV show. The plot of the episode is that the car is being transported on a flatcar located in the middle of a train, going non stop halfway across the country. The car, and the flatcar it's on, disappear part way through the trip while the train is moving and Banacek has to solve the case.

Oh, "Banacek" brings back memories! George Peppard was quite the investigator, and that episode with the stolen car on a moving train sounds like a thrilling ride.
You know, if you're a fan of train-related stories, you might want to consider checking out some of the movies out now in theaters. There's something about the big screen that adds an extra layer of excitement to train-themed adventures. It's a fun way to unwind and maybe discover some new favorite films.
So, grab some popcorn and have a great time exploring the movies out now in theaters.

There have been a few different film adaptations of the original Agatha Christi book "Murder on the Orient Express. The most recent was the 2017 release starring a long list of stars imcluding Judi Dench, Willem Dafoe, Johnny Depp, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

You can watch this one on Youtube for free:
"Runaway," starring Ben Johnson as the hogger, Ben Murphy, Vera Miles, Martin Milner and others.

The movie also stars the original Rio Grande Ski Train. Head end Rio Grande GP30 #3011 has somehow been relocated and repainted for the fictional "Sierra Pacific" RR, and if you look carefully you can see some early inspiration for the "Flying Southern Pacific" logo (<cough> abomination <cough>), which adorned some SP units after it was purchased by the Rio Grande's owner Philip Anschutz.

A then brand new silver painted GP35 saves the day.

There's a lot of helicopter footage of the train descending the tunnel district from Moffat Tunnel--the movie starts at the Winter Park ski area--down to Denver. Good stuff, but unfortunately of pre-4K quality.

"Switchback" features a Rio Grande Jordan spreader which is rather pivotal (well...it's actually one of the blades which pivots) to the finale.
That footage was shot in Gore Canyon CO. It's a long, painful trip down a rock fill there. Ouch!

I remember Under Siege 2 mostly for Brenda Bakke. Of course, she's also what I remember most about Hot Shots part deux as well.
Legs all the way up to her neck.............
:D

A train also plays a part in "Broken Arrow"...John Travolta, Christian Slater and...Howie Long....
