I am a grandpa fixing up a train layout for my grandkids that once belonged to my son. I recently added 2 switch tracks. Can anyone tell me why when the train goes in one direction it works fine, however, when I place the engine at the back end of the train in order to change the train direction on the track it derails at the switch track. I am using Bachmann EZ track and all track connections are flat and level.
Thanks , Ron
Really difficult to provide even general advice without seeing the issue.
Can you post a picture or two?
First I’d check the loco's wheels to see if they’re in gauge.
Does it derail no matter which way the loco faces going in that direction?
Do you have another that makes it thru?
Does it derail going straight or on the diverging leg?
As Ken says a picture would help.
Is the rail joints at the switch connected properly?
Is the switch lined for the route the engine is going to take?
What kind of couplers are you using and is there a low hanging coupler that is snagging on the rails of the switch?
