hehehe, Yep i am getting Deb and Robert to get the plastic off and then i can run trains again. While sitting in this chair I was able to pull wire for the rest of the turnouts. also got a piece of the power connection done to feed power to the track. I don't have all the track powered in that new section. And i can't do it right now. i can't lay anymore track till i am more mobile and that might be a couple months. I don't remember breaking a mirror but i must have broke one or two of them somewhere..Laters all, Smoke

I went to the VA today and my doctor is totally bent out of shape. "They didn't give you"... I think somewhere there was something about a wheelchair and crutches and home care and drugs and before i left!!! Someone got a royal a** kicking but i don't know who, but i now have all the above. Its something to do with a Captain over some lower rank. opps!

i went to the hospital today for a checkup. After they did more xrays they came in the office and said that we will not have to do plates and screws. I still have a broken bone in the leg. They put a new cast on and this one is a total plaster cast. I should be able to get it off in around 6 weeks. they want to see me in 3 weeks. Now if i can take a bath tonight!!

No pins or plates, that's good news, as for the caste, don't get water inside it it'll chaff and you could end up with painful skin sores, ask me how I know.

Been there, done that. I can give a twist to this. This morning, I had to get Deb help me out of the bed. The cast was sticking to the bed sheet, the pillow and my blanket. It was like the cast super glued itself to my bed sheets. I don't remember the casts from past accidents over the years ever doing that! Weird, another thing is that the cast loves to break traction in the bathroom. it is like the floor has oil over it and things are slick. Its all tile in there. the floor of the shower too. I plan to get a lg garbage bag and tape it around my leg to keep the cast dry. Let you know after i get that bit done, as to how well it works.

I've got a false leg and have the same problem, you should see me in winter at work when we have lots of ice around, I take up involuntary ice dancing, and that's wearing rubber-soled boots.

As this is a walking cast, didn't they put a small rubber pad under the heel ?

Nope nothing but cast on the bottom. This cast feels weird to me. It feels like little spikes on it not smooth and its dull not smooth like most casts i have had. New materiel's i guess

yeah, i remember when i last broke a leg. Somehow i am relearning how to work with crutches and a wheel chair and all that kind of fun. Driving with my left foot to drive instead of right is something i have had to do several times in my past so i find that its harder to drive but i remember how to do it. One week gone and two more before i need to see the doctor again. Now i can play around with the trains but the track is dirty or the wheels are. I'll finger it out!

I was testing the track out and it was so dirty it needed to be cleaned really bad. Out with the rubber eraser and i am going around the track. I would check the progress with my hardest engine and that little 40 toner from Bachmann worked perfect and it go to where i hadn't cleaned yet and it would just stall out. Thats ok, i would clean up that next section and it went right in there. Its real touchy about dirty track. I quit for awhile and left it turned off. Last evening i was doing some more track cleaning and i started the little engine to see if i got the track clean enough and it wouldn't do anything! I even pulled one of the atlas models i have and it wouldn't do anything. I was checking connections and wondering what i had done to kill the power. it was a cat chasing its tail kind of thing. I had the manual out going through the checklist to no deal at all. One of the two super stupid things to check is plug the controller in to a good source of power. The next was check the plug on the back of the controller to see it hasn't worked loose. Bingo!! That plug had indeed come loose!!! Duh!!! Dumb!!!😵‍💫
Can't believe i had gone over most of the track checking connections but didn't try the power plug for the dcc. Duh!! Dumb!!!o_O🤪

Well, They took the cast off and shot 3 X-rays and said it looks real good. They put a new cast on it and 3 weeks more and they will give me a rubber boot to wear. I know that i can take that boot off and take showers as needed and not have to worry about getting a cast wet. Also i can sleep with it off. I can wear it and get under the back side of the wall to gain access main line track to finish a few things and get the power to the track and i am right now carving foam i had from the packing foam the table was in. It was basically free and would under normal conditions would have thrown in the trash.
Anyway i have one shot of the foam and the new section

I got all the foam i need to built the mountains and sheet rock compound to do the roughing in of the mountains. Have a couple of shots of the buildings of the coal mine. I have been working on some of the mountains and getting it right so it will match the mountains on the old section. Its loose yet because i am having trouble with the glue gun. Getting a new one so that will fix it. I got all the separate buildings finished and touched up. Have shots of them finished. They really are almost too big,for the layout but i went with a kit that was used on the C&O and was in West Virginia. Anyway its ready and i will show the pictures. I have got to where i can walk on crutches and bare footed. I have to be careful but that boot is a royal PITA!! its getting better everyday.i use the boot if i am going out for whatever i have to do. In the house i take it off.I can work on the layout with it off. Have shots of the coal complex.

That looks really good! Glad your healing is coming along

Sorry i haven't been around. if its not me then its Robert. He has to go into the hospital for open heart surgery. So i have been staying busy driving him to his doctors appointments in town. I guess it will be me or Deb when the next big issue comes up. Just never know. Anyway, I can work on the front part of the mountain. I have a hard time even with the boot off. I somehow kinda twisted my leg a bit and things kinda went for a royal pain in that leg. I don't think i hurt it, but i took a few days off trying to get behind the layout. I am going to wait till i see the doctor again. thats next week. i have shots of all the fun. I got that piece of pink right in place in the first picture and then its off and back behind the hole i have to gain access to the track in the tunnel. Its a mix of white and pink. And i don't think the plaster will care if its white or pink. Its coming along but slowly.
