O scale setup HELP

This is what I’m thinking of doing.
Something like this
Hi,

Like Bruette said, I made an around the room layout running below the ceiling several years ago. I supported mine with fishing line from the ceiling rather than wall supports, however the shelf brackets should be fine.

Nice thing about that layout is it was the size of the room, 12 x 24, which gave lots of track for running trains. I had some turnouts on mine, as well as a few buildings.

We did have 11' ceilings in that old house, which gave us much more space. The one in the video you shared looked a little cramped. I would thing a 9' ceiling would be fine.

First power up I got a buzzing noise like a relay. I moved it around a little and got it to move. Reset and buzz again. I’m guessing this is a connection problem I’ll have to look into.
Maybe not. The description of the locomotive says "Conventional Transformer Control Mode with most American Flyer and Lionel transformers" So the buzzing noise could be the E-unit or modern day equivalent. It is now they make AC powered locomotives go reverse. I don't remember mine buzzing but I definitely do the power sequence thing to get it to go the direction I want.

Power on it is in neutral,
power off and back on it should go forward,
power off and on neutral again,
power off and back on it is in reverse.

I didn't think newer Lionel locos had mechanical e-units but... there is the buzzz.

Yea I did see someone with this issue on a e unit and they added resistors to get rid of the buzz.

Just ordered some track to go around my room. Going to need to do a depot run this weekend hopefully. I also ordered some rolling stock and a cab1 remote. Coming together gents.

We’ll talk about a let down. I got my TMCC today and it didn’t come with a power adapter for the base. 😩

Does it have to have a special power adapter, or can it just be powered from the existing unit on "full power"?
Both. The base needs a 12v adapter to power the base. That’s what it didn’t come with. I ordered one from Amazon. Be here in the am.
