Hello everyone! Just learning here... bought a large lot of train parts and attempting to identify this motor, looks like an Aethern. Hoping someone recognizes it, new in package but many of the items in this lot were new but vintage. Had a large 5 stamped on one side snd a small v on the other side

That "B" indicates a Bachmann motor.
Yup yup yup, 100% agree. That is not a "5" but a Stylized B. The capacitor is to reduce radio frequency interference. Not so much an issue today with the digital TV signals, but back in the day one could tell when I was running the train because of the grainy picture.
