The Mini-Metals HO trucks that I have, have great detail, but the beds tend to be oversized. The cab and chassis of the trucks scale correctly for 1/87 scale, but the beds are over 9 feet wide and generally way too tall.
So do a lot of people use hot wheels on their layouts? If so is it obvious? I am closer to 70 than 65 and working on a bucket list set up so that means if I can find an acceptable alternative to $20 each cars I can spend a little more elsewhere.
I do not have hot wheels but model 00 which is 1:76 so could easily use them
You can put them on the layout away from the h0 so that the difference is not easily picked out, I regularly run items not actually my scale, percentage wise it’s small but just about all my plant machinery Is only h0 while the layout is 00
Never been called out on it

i was out shopping with my wife last week and next to the shop was a heavy equipment dealer.
Different size tracked vehicles and bull dozers for large and small jobs.
So, construction vehicles of slightly different sizes are easy to explain, even trucks.
Three different sized '57 Chevys next to each other are harder to explain.
