Old 97

Hogger
Driver is unknown.
Local girls at the soda fountain think he's a bad boy they can fix.
Law enforcement can't catch him. Slips through their roadblocks before being seen.
Some believe he's an old time moonshiner that's cashed in his chips for speed.
School kids say they seen the car transcend light and sound, as the flames peeled away in the evening dusk.
Top Hogger on the Broake & Howe wants to race him, on the stretch that parallels the single track mainline.
I promised not to give his identity and have since pulled the vehicle off the table.
Can't have the old 0-4-0 jumping the rails in a duel.
Every now and then, I get a faint phone call, from a 1/87 scale switchboard.
Low volume and crackles that won't cycle up for clarity.
Mystery driver says one word with much anticipation.
"Now?"
I simply smile and hang up.............
