Burlington Northern GP9 options?

Well as some of you might know from my recent Proto 2000 thread I am looking for some high hood BN power. I would really like a GP9 but the only one I seem to be able to find is the old Athearn unit which isn't very prototypical. It doesn't seem like any of the Proto 2000 GP9's were ever made for BN. Anyone out there have some advice or suggestions?

Yep, get used to the fact that the paint scheme you want will never come out on the engine you want or, if it does, it will be wrong. Both Proto and Atlas make nice GP-9's so find one that's either undecorated or in the simplest paint scheme possible so you can strip it, repaint it, and apply the decals. It's very satisfying to learn how to apply your own paint and decal the engine exactly as the prototype looks. Not cheap for the first few engines but then the economies of scale start to pay off and it's only $5 or so an engine to get exactly what you want.

NIevo, Before or after you get the stuff you need to for your project I suggest taking a look at these sites. I use them for reference on what I want my stuff to look like. I model Rock Island and Penn Central, therefore It not very easy to get the stuff I want to model so I have to pretty much research it. Microscale decales are good and if you can find them, Harold King are good too. The sites are pretty easy to navagate around, but I have found the Fallenflags site to be kind of slow wish they had thumbnails for quicker viewing.
