Bluing track for seldom used or abandoned lines?

Has anyone ever tried cold bluing fluid to darken the rails on a seldom used or abandoned sidings on their layout?

I’m adding in a small switching section to my layout and was thinking that I might leave one of the sidings as an abandoned spur (closed business, etc.). Yet, the RR might need to drive onto it occasionally for whatever reason, but I’d rather not have bright, shinny track on this section. While bluing fluid would darken the rails, would it leave it electrically conductive?

Mostly I just paint everything a dark rust. not sure about the conductivity.

PS: Micro Engineering sells weathered flex track with the rails darkened. My LHS carries it and you don't have to buy six pieces.

I paint mine a deep rust color too, never thought about bluing but interesting idea.
Alan, or anyone, do you know if the ME weathered track wears off the top of the rail?
I had Walthers passenger cars that lost the colouring on the treads and caused conductivity issues.
