The new one is much better and looks great
Your work amazes and inspires!!I tried something a little Different. After 3D printing my electrical substation I bought some Woodland Scenics Telephone pole kits. The idea was to run them from the Substation to end somewhere in the backdrop. Here is what I came up with.View attachment 208796View attachment 208798View attachment 208799View attachment 208800View attachment 208801, looks pretty good.
Are these photos in order? What are the weights for? Here is my new project. I am working on a new Roundhouse that I am 3d printing. This is going to be a big project that needs more room. I have to elevate the turntable simultaneously with the cork since this new design roundhouse incorporates it. The new roundhouse will be six or seven stalls, depending on how many I can fit. There will be two additions to the back of two stalls to handle my Big Boy and Cab forward. I got a lot done today.
e today, and as I write this,s the 3D printer is working hard to print the many pieces this thing will take.
In the pictures below, you will see before and the new wedge I added today. Everything is back together as far as I can get it for now. I can't do a lot more until my printing gets done.
I never realized what a task this would be, but what else do I have to do? The print time is going to be around 70 hours. ( I'm estimating) I am taking my time on this one because I plan to add a lot more details to this.
Stay Tuned!

Yes, they are in order. the first is what I had to the last one that shows the extension. The weights are for pressure on the turntable. I set the turntable in place with a small film of caulking. If you ever put one of the Walthers turntables in, it is a chore to put their screw clamps in. Doing it this way makes it a better install and is easily removed if needed. Are these photos in order? now I get it, you just elevated the old turntable. Everything looked the same and I was wondering what changed, looks like you had to go through a lot to accomplish that. Here is the before and after.

It wasn’t that bad, actually works better now that the cork evened it out. I hope you notice the wedge that so added.now I get it, you just elevated the old turntable. Everything looked the same and I was wondering what changed, looks like you had to go through a lot to accomplish that.
Impressive! Is it based on a particular roundhouse, or is it freelance?Good Morning. I'm updating you on my printing progress. This is a huge project ,as far as printing time goes. I currently have 65 hours of print time, with only three-quarters of the parts printed. The total cost so far is around $40.00. This is a fun project with a lot of learning curves in the 3D printing hobby. The nice thing is if I break something or don't like it, I just reprint it. This project will take a bit, but I am having fun. Check out some pictures of my progress. ( Notice the two extended stalls for my big boy and cab forward)

Good question. I looked at Walthers' "Modern Roundhouse " with the extended stalls, but I like the older-style roundhouse. I would have to buy three kits from Walthers to get the seven I needed. I would have wasted two stalls on the third kit, and it still would not be what I liked.Impressive! Is it based on a particular roundhouse, or is it freelance?
Looking forward to seeing more.Good question. I looked at Walthers' "Modern Roundhouse " with the extended stalls, but I like the older-style roundhouse. I found this design on Thingaverse.com by a designer "KABrumble" in which you can build as many stalls as you would like.. I emailed him and he designed the extended stall for me which is now available for anyone to download.
3D printing may not be for everyone. It can be a bit trying at times when you are learning and the print time is lengthy.
I estimated about 70 hours of print time, and I was way off. I think it may be over 120 hours or more. It's okay, and it's not like you are sitting there looking at it while it prints. ( If you are, you may have issues!)
I'll post some more progress pictures later today or tomorrow. I am printing the roof pieces now, and they take over 30 hours just for them.

That's coming along nice, I look forward to seeing it when it's done.Spent some time weathering some of the walls. It is coming together. Still a lot of work to go.
