    Trains.com

LOL, exactly. I've purchased pretty much every train sim there is. I play with them a bit, and then get bored. Often if I play them at all (rarely) I use them like a model railroad, letting the sim run the train and flying along in a virtual drone watching the show and enjoying the modeling work...

Sounds like I should send them a thank you letter for making this place look so much better! :)

Just hang out here instead! Nice and fast and we’re seeing lots more posts now that things are working smoothly again.

    Trains.com

While many of us would never give up model railroads, a sea change is coming. This is the future of model railroads, whether we like it or not. Far less expensive (they already have a gaming computer) and takes no space.

Maybe they should give me a call? Oh, wait, they’re the competition and slightly better funded than this place. (Just a tiny bit…) you’re on your own!

    upload video?

I’ve seen our Climax hit 18 mph once, it was both impressive and terrifying. We were pretty sure she’d soon start shedding parts.

A climax with ditch lights? Weird

    upload video?

Yes: Step 1: post it on Youtube Step 2: post a link Bandwidth is expensive, and videos use massive amounts. You can host it anywhere you’d like, for example Vimeo has excellent quality. But as long as YouTube will host them for free, I’m not paying to host them here. just copy and paste the...

    Trains.com

It’s a kind of complicated mess, but I think Trains.com gets you access to all of the magazines. They’re trying to get rid of the print version it would seem.

    Another problem uploading photos

Iphone 13, straight from the "photos" gallery on my phone, works fine. I did notice that it was a jpg file. If you're shooting in Apple's proprietary HEIC format, that is quite likely the problem. Photo is of a hand built #9 turnout. I got the kit from A&K Railroad Materials. Very prototypical...

    Need a little advise please.

If you're going to build a small layout, I'd buy all new track and switches. Go with nickel silver to prevent the brass oxidation issue. If you have old nickel track, you could re-use it, but brass is more hassle than it's worth unless you're on a tight budget.

FORUM UPGRADES - COMPLETED (For real this time! I hope...)

Another night of smooth and consistent sailing. I’m starting to feel confident that we’ve solved it…

FORUM UPGRADES - COMPLETED (For real this time! I hope...)

One of the nicest graphs I've seen in a while. This represents page load time. The lower the number, the better it is. Also the fact that it's a nice even line, without a bunch of ups and downs means that the place is consistently running well. I'm beginning to think that all of the changes...

    "Hide My Email"

This is an older post, but I just came across it while testing the forum to be sure it's still running smoothly. I can assure that the forum doesn't sell your e-mail, or give them out to some "advertising partners". They're used for forum notifications, if you so choose, and nothing else.

FORUM UPGRADES - COMPLETED (For real this time! I hope...)

Running nice and fast now... 2 weeks to trouble shoot. 2.5 second to change "max apache connections" to a larger number and fix everything. Gotta love computers...

FORUM UPGRADES - COMPLETED (For real this time! I hope...)

No the number of seconds the page takes to load. Smaller is better. Nice smooth consistent line indicates fast and stable.

She's holding nice and steady! This just might work.... ETA - Graph of page load time. Nice low numbers are good, as is a smooth line. Red lines mean connection failure, not good.

FORUM UPGRADES - COMPLETED (For real this time! I hope...)

A total of nearly 1400 people online within the last hour, and things are running nice and smoothly. That's the typical morning (in the US) rush and the place seems to be holding up to it just fine.
