Rail codes refer to the height of the rail, code 83 being the most prototypical in height and tie spacing for model rail.
Atlas track if I remember correctly track with black ties are code100 brown ties are code 83.
I am a Royalist, and although I'm not impressed with our current monarch, I think William will be more like his Grandmother and be a more popular monarch with the "common" people, his brother Harry just seems to making an idiot of himself as he stood down from his royal duties due to the amount of negative press his wife received (I have no opinion for or against his wife) and wanted a quiet life away from the press but seems to be doing all he can stay in the headlines, making him a hypocrite, although from what we are hearing here, the US is less than enamoured with his theatrics.
Flying Scotsman and Mallard are two of my favourite LNER steamers as I was lucky enough to work on both in my (much) younger days, I qualified as a Fireman on Mallard.
I hope that you returned Scotsman to the vendor if it was damaged, Hornby did have serious problems with the packaging on several locos mainly because they were packed by a third party in a warehouse in the south of England, probably the worst was their 4-6-4 W1 "Hush Hush" locomotive, by all reports, 65% were received damaged.

Since you are from the UK, it might interest you to know I love your steamers. I bought the Mallard and the Royal Train, both Hornby sets. I bought the Flying Scotsman, but it was not well packed and was badly damaged when it got here. Don't know if you are a Royalist, but sad to hear about the King and Princess. I am praying for them, even though I am a Yank.
