Won a little mystery loco at an auction. :)

Won this little fella + the 3 brown box cars in an auction for 350:- (something like 30 dollars). After taking it apart and giving it some love I have got it slow running fairly well.

No idea what it is :/ (All it says on it is that it is Trix but no number or anything, It has a coalbox rather than a tender so i assume it was some kind of short distance, yard/industry operator?)

That looks like a BR 89. That was a switcher engine.

I remember those from the late 1970s into the early 1990s, as far as when they made them. They were DB shunting engines.

Thanks for the info, I had a feeling it might be a German one. It barely ran at all when I tried it first go but after cleaning the gunk out of the commutator, some unknown hair from the gears and a drop of fresh oil and it runs pretty smoothly.

Like @HansKuster mentioned BR89, or BR80. They were almost identical and the class name should be on the side of the cab.

Yes i see it now its a little worn off, but says 89 005

BR 80 has a large water tank on each side of the boiler, BR 89 doesn't. That's the most obvious difference, beside the numbers ;-)
